When this mode is selected, new users registering with a social network will be presented with a 'Mini Registration' page which asks for some information, but is generally less than the normal process on your site would be. This is because JFBConnect can automatically generate some values (username, password) or import profile information (email address, location, etc). You, the admin, can choose what information the user can customize when registering.
To enable the Mini Registration process, in the "User" configuration tab, set the "Enable Automatic Registration" parameter to 'No'. Below is a description of the other settings available in this mode:
When mini registration is enabled or automatic registration cannot be used (due to missing email address), JFBConnect uses a form-based registration to gather profile information from the user. This setting selects the component that will handle the registration for the user. 'JFBConnect' is the default, but some Social Profile plugins can enable registration flows in other extensions. The currently supported extensions for this 'Registration Component' option are JomSocial and EasySocial. If you wish to go through the registration flow of the 3rd party extension, enable the appropriate Social Profile plugin, installed with JFBConnect, in the Joomla Plugin Manager.
Enabling this setting will automatically connect a new user to an existing user on your Joomla site if their email addresses match their social network email. This is great for sites with lots of existing Joomla users to make adding any social network a smooth process.
This setting allows additional control for User Activation. If you have enabled new user account activation in Joomla (in the User Manager - Options), enabling skip here will automatically activate all new social network users. If set to No here, then the New User Account Activation setting in the User Manager Options will be used for all new social network users.
If the "Username Field on Registration" is set to a generate option, the "Auto Username Prefix" setting will be used. This will pre-fill the username field with the automatic username format chosen. This setting lets you control what the username will be for each user as follows:
Choose whether to send the new user email / welcome email to the user.
Select the Joomla user groups that the new user will be added to upon registering. Multiple groups may be selected here.
When a user registers on your site for the first time, they will be brought to the JFBConnect Login / Register page. From this form, they can choose to login to an existing Joomla account or register and create a new account. This option selects the general layout of this page:
Selecting 'Generate and Hide' for this setting will hide the registration field. If set to show, the field will always be shown, either pre-populated with the auto generated username if 'Generate and Show' or blank if 'Leave Blank' is set. With 'Generate and Disable' the username field can be generated automatically for the user so that they can not customize it.
When the "Password Field on Registration" is set to the generate option, JFBConnect can automatically generate a password for the Joomla user that will be created. The automatically generated username and password will then be mailed to the user on account creation. On return visits, the user can either use these account credentials or their social network credentials to log in to the site.
Selecting 'Generate and Hide' will not show the password and confirm password fields and instead use a randomly generated password. If set to 'Leave Blank' a blank password field for the user to fill out.
Selecting 'Hide' for this setting will automatically set the new user's email address to their social networking email address. If set to 'Show' or if JFBConnect is not able to retrieve the email address (due to email permissions for each social network), an Email field will appear on the registration form, pre-populated with their social network address.
Selecting 'Hide' for this setting will automatically set the new user's name to their social networking display name. If set to 'Show' a Name field will appear on the registration form, pre-populated with the social network name.
