hello Alzander

I must in 1 or 2 days (finally!) open publicly my site and before doing this I would like to know when you plan to release the next version of Jfbconnect.

If I'm not wrong all modifications related to this topic was made with your help on my site but still not again included in your last version 3.4.1. Actually I run the version 3.2.2 for Jfbconnect and 3.2.3 for CB plugin...

For me it is better if I can upgrade before open my site for avoid to made again all modifications and worry about that... You announced a version must be available for end of August but it seem you are not ready..

many thank

cheers

Dotcom,
Facebook originally stated that a required change to authentication needed to be implemented by September 1st, which is why we originally said we'd have 4.0 out in August. However, they didn't deliver some of the required integration features on time, and pushed back the deadline to October 1st. We're planning to release 4.0 next week which will have these required changes.

I believe all of the changes that were made for you are included in 3.4.x, released last month. I'd honestly recommend that you try upgrading to 3.4.1 right now, as we can help correct any issues you run into before you go live and make sure they are in the 4.0 release as well. The 4.0 release shouldn't be 'worrying' of an upgrade since 3.4 has most of the features we were planning on for 4.0, with the exception of the new authentication scheme (which is why we didn't change the major version number).

Hope that explains.. and of course, whenever you choose to upgrade, we'll help out with any issues you run into.

Thanks,
Alex

So tonight I wanted start to upgrade Jfbconnect like you suggest and before that I make a last test for see if all is ok when a new user want to subscribe using FB. Unfortunately I get again the same recurring CB problem with the error:

This user has not yet confirmed his email address and account!
This user has not yet been approved by a moderator!

This seem to happen because I upgraded few days ago CB from the version 1.4 (where all was ok) to last version 1.7... Bad idea to have upgraded CB even if I'm totally sure is the reason..

Do you think I can downgrade CB without problem for see if all is always fine with JFBconnect ?? Of course the best would be to fix all problem with CB 1.7...

Dotcom,
So have you upgraded JFBConnect to 3.4 yet, or are you still using the 3.2 version? Just checking to see if the only change you did was with CB going to 1.7.

All of our testing now is with CB 1.7, so it should work.. but obviously, things can be finnicky. If there's any information about things you see that are right or wrong, or things you've done, that will help us narrow things down.

If you want us to investigate the cause more, feel free to re-send us admin credentials for the site. We delete old credentials, so we don't have what you sent us previously.

Thanks,
Alex

Sorry I forgot to mention...I'm always under JFBconnect 3.2 version...

It appear the best is to try to upgrade also to version 3.4 and see what happen.... I read just right now on CB forum is not a good idea to downgrade...

Except upgrading to CB 1.7 I don't have made any other change in JFBconnect... Of course I made some work in some other components or in Joomla itself bit nothing related to CB and JFB..

thank

Ok I have update to 3.4.1 but the problem still present. All other modifications (like tooltip, field validation, ..) discussed in this topic seem to be always active... great point.

The only issue now is the recurring CB problem (confirm account and moderator approval) and the position of the CB checkbox "term of use" field (like previously discussed here www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...-cb-field?p=1#p11569 ).

So I PM to you my credential...Nice if you can take a look..

dotcom,
I fixed the problem on your site. The problem was that the "cb_language" field wasn't being filled in. I'm not sure what this field is, but for some reason it wasn't showing on JFBConnect registration page, like the other fields for canton and gender. By marking it as not required, and then registering, my account was created correctly and my profile and avatar were imported.

If this is really a required field that you want filled out during registration, you may be able to make it show if you mark the field as "Profile" as well. Alternatively, let us know if you've created a template override or made any other changes to CB or JFBConnect that we may hide that field.

Glad to see that just about everything else was working right away, and thanks again for all your feedback. Good luck on getting your site online soon!

Thanks,
Alex

Ok I see the problem...

In fact cb_language is a required field where I ask the preferred language (french or german) the user want subscribe. This will be useful for me in future for know for example the correct language I will need to write my Newsletter...

Few days ago I finally choose to not display this field on the CB profile because I prefer to keep this info for internal use. I did not know is mandatory to display required field on the CB profile for let Jfbconnect work properly. So now if I display the field on profile I can register without problem... So I will keep the field on the profile..is not a big deal...

Please last things:

Can you tell me like requested on my previous post how to do for add a line-break before the Terms of Service checkbox?

see here:

www.sourcecoast.com/components/com_agora...de-travail-1-308.png

You do already this for me in the previous version of Jfbconnect... If you tell me witch file need to be modified I can do by myself... I don't know if this happen only with my site and if is a template issue but having this checkbox not well positioned is annoying because the user can maybe not understand what to do and leave the site. Have you get some feedback about that from other users ?? Maybe you can include in your next release this line break ??

After that I think I can finally open my site publicly ... After 10 month of developing I'm impatient :-)

many many thank

cheers

Dotcom,
Glad to hear you're about to launch. Hopefully our final touch will be all you need :)

I just logged into your site, and the file manager I usually use isn't installed. The instructions on adding the line break are pretty simple. Simply open the /plugins/jfbcprofiles/communitybuilder.php file. Search for "getCBTermsAndConditions". You'll see about 15 lines of code in that function. Find the one that starts with $html = "<input....". Update it to:
$html = "<br/><input type=...

I'll be including this line break in the 4.0 version of the CB profile plugin so you won't have to deal with this in the future. Looks fine to me with the extra space :)

Thanks,
Alex

Excellent I have modify the file and now the checkbox is well aligned. Very cool for adding the BR in next release... Many thank !!

Unfortunately I just discover right now a glitch with language...

In fact my site is in french and german and by default the site is displayed in french. The language displayed when a user visit the site is set according to browser language with the help of Joomfish language plugin.

Now by admitting the user surf on a public or professional PC where the system/browser is not in his own preferred language (english, spanish or even in french), and this user want surf in german, it will logically choose "german" by clicking on the German flag. After that he can fill the form but when clicking on Submit button I get a error 500. After if I go to the previous page by clicking on the Go Back browser button, I'm correctly registered and logged-in.

I tested using Facebook in french or german with Firefox but the result is the same... It seem something go wrong when we try to register in others language. I can not test more because my system and all my browser are in french... Maybe when testing with german stuff no error can happen because Joomfish must detect the language an display the site in german without need to manually click on a language flag.

When you subscribe to my site I imagine you choose to keep the french version ?? Can you please try again and before subscribe, try to change language by clicking on the german flag for see if you get the same 500 error..??

thank
