Generating a Certificate Signing Request

The first step to obtaining an SSL certificate for Facebook is to generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR). This is provided to The SSL Store in order for them to generate an SSL certificate unique to your site. The steps below are for Plesk, but similar steps are required for any server administration panel.

  • In Plesk, click on Domains and then the domain you want to generate the certificate for.
  • Click the "SSL Certificates" icon.
  • Click "Add SSL Certificate"
  • Fill out the information at the top, and choose 2048 for "bits"
  • Hit "Request"
  • You'll be returned to the "SSL Certificates" page. Click into the certificate you just created, and copy the full text in the CSR field including the ----BEGIN CERTIFICATE REQUEST---- and ----END CERTIFICATE REQUEST---- portions when needed below.
