Alex, Melissa, I see you are swamped with issues, so I will say I understand up front, if you are taking longer than usual to respond to individual request.

My Channel Facebook App on developer.facebook.com is still in Sandbox mode. I am still wondering what to do.

Log Into Facebook
Facebook Will Be Back Soon
Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minutes. In the meantime, read more about why you're seeing this message. Thanks for your patience as we improve the site.

The organization I manage the website for are now telling me to just uninstall JFBConnect because they can just copy and paste an image and URL to Facebook when they write an article. I tell them that having the JFBConnect extension in place allows other users to post articles to their Facebook pages as well, they then say that there is such little traffic that it isn't worth it. I say the only way you are going to increase traffic is if you get exposure on venues like Facebook. They say we have had exposure on Facebook and still we have such little traffic.

At this point I just want to get the plugin working again and then walk away.

The problem is that Facebook has sandboxed the App. Do I delete the App and let JFBConnect recreate it, (no I create the App, and let JFBConnect add any Login, Share or Like Social widgets to the App with Autotune), or do I negotiate with Facebook to have the App returned to live status? The App isn't getting populated with Share and Like widgets by JFBConnect. Again, do I delete the App and create a new one, get the new App ID and Secret key and paste them into the Facebook Autotune Basic Info section, and then complete the Autotune process?

When I run Autotune with the existing App Id and Secret key, I am now getting the error message: "Facebook API Error: (#100) Failed to update the application" It may be that Facebook is down for a few hours instead of a few minutes.

I am going through the JFBConnect documentation again to see if there is something that I have perhaps missed. But I keep coming back to the same thing, should I delete all apps on the Facebook account, create new ones and then run Autotune?

Finally got the following from Facebook:

Sorry for the delay. When you click into your app in the Facebook Developer area, there should be a 'switch' at the top right of the whole area that should show "Status: In Development". Hit that switch and you should be in "Live". There is no API to toggle that setting, so JFBConnect cannot do it for you. If you don't see that setting, you don't have the right admin privileges for that app.

The only other setting to be aware of is in the Developer area in the Settings -> Advanced area for "Allow API Access to App Settings". You should enable that setting to allow JFBConnect to update your settings in Autotune.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Yes, I see this [Off ] Status: In Development and when I hover over the [Off ] button a popup says, "You may not make your app available to all users."

So I will just have to wait until Facebook lifts thew restriction.

I provided several screen shots showing the official branded Facebook icon.

this just came in as well: FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM AND WHATSAPP HAVE BEEN DOWN FOR SOME USERS GLOBALLY

Is there any explanation for why? You'll need to look through the developer area for alerts, messages or other indications as to what your app is missing that isn't allowing you to make it live.

Originally there was a message that said that they sent out a message last May asking users to reconfirm their apps by August 6 or their apps would be deleted. I didn't see the message and I was removed from managing the website for a couple of months. After they figured out that they didn't have anyone else to manage the website they asked me to upgrade the site and get it up to PHP 7.2 standards. All seem well until a couple of months ago when the Facebook Like and Share buttons stropped working and gave an error message instead.

I see that all the messages go to the owner of the website, not me and the owner never mentioned it to me.

The 2 issues that are the problem above are:
* Your app 9/11 Truth Action Project has been disabled
* Warning: App Violation

It seems like your app was flagged for creating a negative experience. You'll have to appeal that and take corrective action for whatever they don't like. The App Review and other ones are pretty irrelevant. After April, you may not be able to import some extended profile data from a user when they register on your site. They'd still be able to register and you'd get email and name.. so that's pretty inconsequential, especially when your app is disabled, which means registration is disabled.

You'll need to look into those violations, fix them, appeal and hope that your app is re-instated. That's the only advice I can give. After that, you can decide if you want to take care of the other messages, which aren't required.

I finally was able to successfully file an appeal yesterday. Nothing so far. As mentioned earlier in this thread, I changed all of the icons on the site to the ones you provide, which upon inspection, appear to be the icons Facebook has determined best represents their brand. I gave them four screen shots, so there should be no ambiguity.

So all I can do is wait.

Just to be clear, I don't think the issue is the icons. The warnings above specifically state:

9/11 Truth Action Project (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX) appears to be creating a negative experience on Facebook in violation of our Platform Policies. If you do not make the changes to get your app into compliance, we will be forced to place a restriction on your app.

Please check your email address inbox for more information. If you haven't received an email from us, please ensure that the email address listed in the App Dashboard under App Settings is correct.

A 'negative experience' is not what you'd get for having the wrong icons. We've seen messages from users who have received warnings for using the wrong icons, and the text looks like:
In working to create a great Platform experience for everyone, we ask developers to ensure the apps they build comply with our Platform Policies. Your app YYYYY (AppId: XXXXXX) doesn't comply with the following:

Platform Policy 8.3: Use a clearly branded "Login with Facebook" button and follow the Facebook Brand Guidelines: https://www.facebookbrand.com/.

Changing the icons is good, but I think there are other reasons that Facebook has blocked your app. In the message above, they state to check your email on record for more details. I'd scour your email (or whoever is setup as the application admin) to see if there are more details available.

Thanks,
Alex
