Facebook said that our Facebook login button doesn't clearly identify Facebook.

Here is the whole email message:

Subject: Facebook Platform Policy - App Deactivated: 9/11 Truth Action Project (311988672497703)

Hi,

Your app 9/11 Truth Action Project (AppId: 311988672497703) doesn't fully comply with our Platform Policies. Since we're striving to improve the Platform experience, your app has been deactivated.

Your app is violating the following Platform Policies:

Platform Policy 8.3: Use a clearly branded "Login with Facebook" button and follow the Facebook Brand Guidelines: www.facebookbrand.com/.

Your Login button doesn't properly reference Facebook. To fix this issue, you should always use our official SDK for Login. For more information on Login best practices, check out the Login section of our developer documents: developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-lo...actices#buttondesign.

Platform Policy 1.2: Build an app that is stable and easily navigable. Be sure your app insights reflect a positive experience.

Here's a visual example of the policy: developers.facebook.com/policy#1-1-photo.

You can access the full list of our Platform Policies here: developers.facebook.com/policy/.

Once you’ve updated your app, please go to developers.facebook.com/appeal to appeal. A member of our team will get back to you within 48 hours.

Since we’re always working to create great experiences for developers on Facebook, we’d love to hear your feedback on what you liked about your interaction with us and what we could improve. Please take a few minutes to fill out our survey: www.facebook.com/survey/?oid=92617359753...id":"761296607556927"}.

Thanks,

There wasn't any issue for the last couple of years and now there is, so I guess their policy changed and I didn't read it. Do I have to include the Text "Login with Facebook" along with the button, or do I have to include that text on the face of the button.

When paleontologists millions of years in the future dig up this civilization and ask, why did the human race go extinct, they will arrive at the answer, Facebook.

I just hovered over you button and I see that you have the anchor property, title-"Login with Facebook" Is that all that I need.

We just encountered this with another user last week, as Facebook has changed their branding guidelines. His issue was resolved with new buttons that I provided. I just posted an updated version of JFBConnect with these new login buttons that match the new criteria. Please update to this version.

Once installed, you may need to go into SCLogin > Social Button Settings to re-select the images you're using as the buttons. Also, go into the JFBConnect > Configuration > Facebook tab and make sure that the new buttons are selected as the "Default Login Buttons".

Thanks Mel, I already changed the Facebook icon to the one from the old set instead of my custom icons.

I will upgrade today and reelect those icons again.

Facebook says that once I have made the corrections, I have to file an appeal to get the Facebook App reinstated. Do I still need to do that even though I update the installation of JFBConnect and selected the new icons?

Yes, you'll need to 'appeal'. It's not as bad as it sounds. You should just have need to respond to their ticket (or create a new one) and let them know you've updated the icon and to check again.

We've already had a few users report this issue and the resolution has usually only taken a day or so from what we understand.

I hope that helps, but definitely let us know how it goes.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex, that is what I thought from reading their policy page.

How have you been by the way? It has been awhile, which is good, because it means that there has been no issues with JFBConnect or SCLogin for quite some time now.

We're doing good. Chugging along and keeping up with the changes in social networks. Last year, there were a ton of API changes in most networks, which kept us busy. Those were mostly all after the privacy issues Facebook had at the beginning of the year. We're hoping this year is a little less crazy, so we can focus on some new features and improvements.

Glad to hear things are working well for you!

All the best,
Alex

Good to know things are going well for you.

Thanks for a great component.

I don't think this will be the end of the privacy issues, but hopefully there won't be more major changes to their APIs.

Unfortunately, Alex when I attempt to file and appeal I get the following error.

Sorry, the link you followed may be broken, or the page may have been removed.
Search for appeal on developers.facebook.com

When I go to developers.facebook.com and click on "Appeal an App Decision" I get the same message.

Looks like someone else filed a bug report about this. I'd recommend commenting that you're having a similar issue:
developers.facebook.com/bugs/2987912147901762/

Hopefully, they get things fixed soon!

Also.. read the notes in that bug report as they mention disabling ad blockers and trying different browsers. Always possible something on your end is preventing the link from working.

Good luck!
