I had a Webroot filter installed in Firefox and disabled that but no joy. I will have to register as a Web Developer on Facebook to leave as comment. Funny, they didn't leave any instructions for Firefox.

I tried it in Chrome as well. same result.

I will leave a comment. Maybe they will take a look at the site and see that I have swapped out all the custom social media icons for the official icons and perhaps that will be enough for them to reinstate the app.

This is the comment I left Facebook

I have tested in both Firefox and Chrome and I get the same 404 Sorry the link may be broken or the page no longer exists.

I have looked in the Chrome Network page and all requests are http 200 successful.

I have looked in Chrome Console and there are no error messages. So Facebook is processing the request for the page.

The site where the app was disabled is www.911tap.org

All custom social media icons have been replaced with the official branded icons from each social media venue so that the brands of each are honored.

I just want to make an observation here, Alex or Melissa, and that is all the HTTP request statuses for the page are 200, there are no 404 page not found error statuses. That means that Facebook is serving that Error page and it is not the result of an HTTP request failure. I imply from that that Facebook doesn't want to take any appeals at this time.

Guess I will have to wait until they make that appeals form available again. Maybe they were getting swamped with appeals. Maybe this was the result of an AI app gone wild.

This is the latest from Facebook:

Developer Appeals

I see that all the Apps have been deleted. I am trying to remember how to recreate the Apps using the JFBConnect component. Oh yes Auto-tune, but that isn't working.

I have zero love for Mark Zuckerberg at this moment, I really don't have time for this.

Alex, I am getting this error message when using the Facebook channel app.

App Not Setup: This app is still in development mode, and you don't have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions.

I have had one email from Facebook, and they asked me to describe the problem to them and give them the App ID so that they could restore it. I did that but havcen't heard back form them for 5 days.

Have any of your other clients been able to get their Apps restored?

When I go to developer.facebook.com and login in, I don't see any apps listed. What is it I should do to get create a new app? I get errors when I try.

I'm sorry I missed your post earlier. They deleted your app(s)? That's crazy! I haven't heard of them doing that, ever, that I can think of. Restricted or disabled, sure, but that's so whatever issue can be resolved. Deleting is crazy and doesn't really make sense since, as you've done, you can just re-create it.

Either way, I'm sorry for the troubles you ran into there, especially for such a seemingly minor thing.

There's something really strange going on with your account, it sounds like. If you go to developer.facebook.com and don't see any apps listed, then what Api and secret key are you using in JFBConnect to try to setup the Channels? If you can't get into the dev area, then you can't disable development mode to put your app Live, or many of the other things that are necessary to get things going.

I hate to say it, but you'll have to keep pestering Facebook. I'd submit a bug request (developers.facebook.com/bugs) and note everything you can about what you can/can't see. Keep it quick, don't need to go into the original issue, just that you can't see any apps and your existing app that worked for a long time seems gone too.

I hope that helps, but definitely keep us posted!

I have been pestering Facebook. When I go to the Appeals page, it say that there is nothing wrong with my account.

This just in.
The people who run the organization who's website I managed, demoted me to a moderator on that Facebook page and deleted that user that was connected to the Facebook Channel on JFBConnect. That is the reason the App got deleted, the user account listed in Channel settings, no longer exists on Facebook.

And the people that made that decision to delete that account on the Facebook page do not understand why this would cause a problem.

The board director who's name I used as the manager of that Facebook Channel probably saw that his email address on that page was This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and had his new Social Media persons delete that account and create a new one using his regular email address. I would assume that since the App was no longer connected to any user on that page that Facebook automation just deleted the App during a regular cleanup cycle.

I have to be restored to Admin in order to create a new special Social Media channel user account that I can then list in Joomla users and select in the Facebook Channel interface.

Wish someone would have told me they did this. but I would expect that after they did this, the Facebook features on the website stopped working, then I get a call, and they say they have no idea what happened.

Facebook won't let you delete the last user on a Page or App. There always has to be one last admin. However, if you were removed from a Page, then the authorization token that your user has to allow posting to that page will no longer work, for obvious reasons.

So, the Page and the App should still be alive somewhere. You just need to be added back to the Page as a admin so that you can post content through it through the API. The API keys for the app should still work, but yeah, you may not be able to see that app in the admin area of Facebook anymore. You shouldn't need to though as JFBConnect was designed to not require you to edit the app on Facebook's side.

I hope that helps, but keep us posted on how things go.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes, I have to be restored to admin on that page, or there is nothing I can do. As you say, I can't login through the Joomla interface, I have to login using the Facebook login in order to be able to confirm. That means I have to be able to log into Facebook with those credentials or it won't work, and I can't do that unless I am admin.

I got restored as admin, had Facebook send a new confirmation email and I confirmed, and now everything works again. Logged in with Facebook account and posted an article to Facebook and Twitter.

Notice that the character count restriction on Twitter has been increased considerably.

By the way, what channels can I set up besides Facebook and Twitter. I have been away from this for awhile and need a memory jog.

Oh I just looked, only LinkedIn.

I logged out of the 911tap.org, and tried to post using the "Share" button and got the same response:

Log in to use your Facebook account with 9/11 Truth Action Project.

Error Accessing App

We're sorry, but the application you're trying to use doesn't exist or has been disabled.

I am given the option of creating a test app or deleting the app.

This got deleted because they sent out a message last May that all Apps had to be reaffirmed or they would be deleted. Facebook says that because people did no reaffirm, that 100s of thousands of Apps were deleted. The JFBConnect App is still there, in fact there are two versions of the same, bu it is in development mode with the two options I mentioned above.

Should I select to Create a Test App, and then go through the Facebook verification process again???

The Twitter count is set when using the Autotune configuration tool's "Network Settings" section. When you run that step, data for multiple social networks, like character counts and URLs for specific features, are fetched. We use Autotune to update those settings so we don't have to put out a release every time one of the 10 networks we support makes a minor update.

I'm unsure what that error message is or how you're seeing it. I'd check the share button itself to see if it's including some other Facebook App Id. If you're using the JFBConnect share button, that shouldn't be a problem, but if it comes from another extension, that's probably the issue.

Thanks,
Alex

No JFBConnect is the only Social Sharing Extension I use and I have it set up just like you do in the lower right hand corner of the page.

If I am logged in with the special Social Media email address that is an admin on the Facebook page, and that is the same as in the Facebook Channel settings email address, I can post to Facebook. I can post as Social Media admin and I can use the Share button to post.

If I log out and then log into Facebook with my personal Facebook account I get the following:

Error
Warning
App Not Setup: This app is still in development mode, and you don't have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions.

In other words I can only post to Facebook as a test user, not as a regular user

When I go to developer.facebook.com and log in with the special Social Media account that I set up specifically for JFBConnect and which is an admin on Facebook, when I look at the apps, they say that they are in developer mode. Nothing I can do in JFBConnect will change that except for create another instance of the App in developer mode on Facebook.

My question is, should I go ahead and click "Create Test App" from the JFBConnect App that is listed in the Facebook Page drop down to start the confirmation and approval process with Facebook. This has nothing to do with JFBConnect, nothing to do with the website, this has to do with getting Facebook to accept the JFBConnect App, which it isn't doing automatically. the other options is to delete those Apps and run Auto Tune again, which will recreate the App, but my suspicion is the App will again be in developer mode until I go through the Facebook confirmation and approval process.
