First let me say this a fantastic component and plugin! I'm really glad I found this! Here is my issue:
- Log into site with Facebook account
- Go to article on site
- Write comment about article
- Log out of Facebook
- Go back to article and I get your code to insert the plugin info (see attached screenshots)

I am using a Joomlart template that has page caching enabled. Will I need to disable that? It really provides a great speed improvement...

Thanks!

You shouldn't need to disable it... but may need to try to tweak some things. We haven't tested with the JoomlaArt templates, but if they use a System plugin to enable caching, I'd suggest trying to order it after the JFBCSystem plugin (which is what does the {JFBCLike ..} replacements.

There's a few other possibilities, but there's plenty of Joomla sites out there with different types of caching that JFBConnect works well with, so we can get you going as well. Also, have you tried disabling the caching, just to see if that does indeed fix the problem? Always good to have it narrowed down :)

Anyways, thanks for the kudos on JFBConnect. It's taken a lot of effort to get it to where it is, and we can't thank you enough for your subscription! Glad you're enjoying it!

Changing the cache fixed the first problem but I still am getting the second screen shot I sent you that says "Sorry, something went wrong" ...

Also when I click to "like" a story at the top I get an error with "You failed to provide a valid list of administators. You need to supply the administors using either a "fb:app_id" meta tag, or using a "fb:admins" meta tag to specify a comma-delimited list of Facebook users.

Mark,
I just grabbed the URL from the image above. You have 2 Facebook Connect extensions running on that site. One is JFBConnect, and the other, I'm not familiar with. Either way, the problem that you're seeing with the Error is that both extensions are using a different Application ID to talk to Facebook, which is make Facebook go crazy. It can't figure out, if someone wants to comment, what application they would be commenting too (or log into, or Like, etc).

We'd recommend you disabling the other Facebook Connect extension you're using. Hopefully that helps, and if you need features from that extension, let us know. We do just about everything that every other extension does, so if we're missing something, we want to know!

You can see the inclusion of both sets of code by looking at the HTML and searching for "all.js". Above both of these lines is a line for AppId, in which case, you'll see they're both different.

Good luck!

I have uninstalled everything I can think of to remove and I still get the error message when I try to "like" an article ... I can "like" a comment I make to the article and it works just fine ...

Also when I log in with Facebook the site hangs on a white screen ... If I hit F5 to refresh then everything updates and the site appears ...

Sorry for the issues ... I truly appreciate your help!!!

Thanks!

Found / corrected the problem... I had added information in the 'Open Graph" section ... I needed to add an "admins=insertnameofadminhere" to the list. Now its working fine except that now I get the same number of people liking every single article ... it doesn't seem to be specific to the article ...

Sorry about all the questions!!!

Seem to have most everything resolved except for two outstanding issues:
1) - likes don't seem to be assigned to a specific article - the count is the same for every article in the entire site
2) - when you login with Facebook the site hangs and you have to refresh the page for it to complete the login

Thanks very much!

Mark,
Questions are always welcome. We have a subscription system for a reason, Facebook (and websites in general) are complex. We have no problem charging for our component and support. Take advantage of it, and thank you for supporting us.

As for your question, to being, I just looked at the admins tag you used, and I think it's incorrect. According to Facebook, this should be the Facebook IDs of the users, not their names:

fb:admins or fb:app_id - A comma-separated list of either Facebook user IDs or a Facebook Platform application ID that administers this page. It is valid to include both fb:admins and fb:app_id on your page

You can get your Facebook ID from Facebook or even in the User Map tab of JFBConnect for the specific users that are connected to your site with Joomla accounts.

As for the Like being for the same page across the site, I'm seeing this too. I believe the problem is that you have a default Open Graph tag of your home page specified. In the Like button, we specify the page a user is liking, but then Facebook scans that page for the Open Graph URL tag to see if there's a better (canonical) link to use.. Since that's set to your home page, I think that's causing all Likes to go there.

Can you remove this from the defaults box in the Open Graph area? Obviously, we should make the repurcussions of that tag more apparent as well.

Hopefully this fixes your right up, but if you have other issues/questions, just let us know!
