Can you let me know:
* What phpBB3 bridge you're using? There are several out there.
* How are you testing?
* What actually is (or isn't) happening?

For example:
* Is the user account being created in Joomla when you register with Facebook?
* Are you properly logged into Joomla, but not phpBB, or are you not logged into either?

What is the "CB Plugin" you mention and how is it related to phpBB?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex,

I am using the one from Alterbrains and it is the best one out there I have to say and the guys from there are looking into it so I will come back to you if that is OK as I think they may resolve the problem for me as I am pretty useless when it comes to getting all these things working, but I do try.

I will let you know how things go and if I need any assistance if that is OK?

Thanks

Giancarlo

Absolutely. I have no problem letting others investigate first :) The Alterb

If they have any questions, feel free to pass them along or get in touch with my Contact Us form above. We'll gladly work with them to get things going.

In general (and you can pass this along to them), when the user logs in with a social network, there isn't a "username" and "password" that is available to pass to phpBB to authenticate a user. I know with some bridges (JFusion and others) for phpBB and other systems, a special cookie needed to be set to state that 'user a is logged in' and then phpBB could use that cookie instead of using the non-existent username/password that is normally available when a user authenticates with Joomla credentials.

I hope that helps, and best of luck,
Alex

Hello Alex,

I am going to need your help as it seems that I do not even have the ability to log in at all with Facebook from the Admin side of things, I set everything up as per the Auto tune and I do not understand what else needs to be done, so am very lost as to how to get this working and the guys at Alterbrains do not know your software, so it is a problem for them to try and figure it out without knowing what it should be doing?

Hope you can help ;)

Giancarlo

Sure, we'll gladly help however we can.

Right now, I just went through quite a few pages of your site, but couldn't find the Facebook login button anywhere. Do you have the SCLogin module enabled, which is the standard way of adding our social login buttons? Other options for showing the button include:
* JFBConnect automatically adding them to the standard Joomla registration or login forms
* Using the {JFBCLogin} tag anywhere on your site where you want the buttons to display

Let me know where we can test the authentication process and we'll gladly do what we can to get the standard features going.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I could not find the SCLogin Module anywhere in my Joomla Admin area's so I typed in the tag in the CBLogin module and now can see the buttons for logging in but they are not working correctly as far as I can see it !?!

Thanks

There's a big chunk of Javascript on your site from an extension called "Extrawatch" that *looks* like it may be interfering with our authentication process using Facebook. I can't be sure of that, but it seems to be the cause.

Can you try, even temporarily, disabling that extension and see if the Facebook authentication starts to work?

As for the SCLogin module, it should have been installed during the JFBConnect installation process. If it's not in your Module Manager, that's an indication that the full JFBConnect installation may not have occurred as it should. In that case, I'd try re-installing JFBConnect. You don't need to uninstall first.. it should just install like the first time, but should fix any issues that may be happening from an failed install, if that's what indeed happened.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I managed to get it working by putting the tag in the CB Login, I even un-installed the Extrawatch Module and installed a new version of JFBConnect and ran Autotune and still NO SC Login module, so not sure what is going on there?

Got it working but it is very flakey in the way it works and is not right, most certainly????

Thanks

Giancarlo
