Sorry, forgot to answer that question earlier. Both Open Graph - Content and Content - JFBCContent plugins are Enabled. Yes, it's a Custom Action / Custom Object pair that's seems to be working. That locatioin.href is going to make my life easier considering there needs to be an object created for each page. Thanks so very much. You've given me hope! LOL :)

Wasn't trying to withhold that nugget from you about the location.href, I just didn't want to get things too confused when there were still issues.

Keep us posted on how it goes, and hope you're not too frustrated. It seems like the light at the end of this tunnel is right up ahead :)

Thanks,
Alex

Awesome! Very glad to hear that got you going.

So, just to make sure.. where are we at? It sounds like things are working pretty well for you now. With the thread above, it sounds good, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

Either way, definitely making good progress and I hope you're happy with things.. even if it may have been a bit more difficult than you anticipated. We do appreciate the feedback and hope you're happy with your choice of JFBConnect.

Thanks,
Alex

We are almost there! One question from above, the ''activity log'' with no option to delete. I'll attach another screen shot. Second, since there's no article ID is there anyway to connect a custom object to the front page?

Thanks so very much for your patience with my learning curve. I don't mind the hard work of learning. This is worth it.

This extension is going to be an integral part of our new website as it's further developed. In 2011 our business won the Facebook American Express Big Break for Small Business. One of my goals if we won the Big Break was to revamp the website, create a plant database and make the site an online social gathering spot and a place to share gardening information. Before I even knew what open graph was I thought it would be cool if there were a way for our customers to 'tag' plants on our site that they liked for future reference. I totally see open graph getting part of that done. Figured once I learn the ropes and we get our feet wet with our 'Dig it' button that I'll further create other buttons to aggregate, let's say, container garden recipes, plant for the shade, etc.

Alex, your extension is making it possible for us to do that and make real one of our Big Break goals. I was really hoping I could get this part going by mid April because we have a special event coming up that involves Facebook and I so wanted to have this site ready and as socially tricked out as I could muster. So thank you, thank you, thank you. Your hard work on this awesome extension is making that possible for our business.

Lisa,
I just realized that you're looking at the admin area of your site for the Activity Log. Since those actions are published, we don't allow you to delete them. The record of the action must remain in the database so that the user can delete the action from their Timeline. We also don't let you delete it so that you aren't altering (deleting content) from the user's Timeline, that's something they should do.

Once an action has been deleted by the user on the front-end, or the action was never published due to an error, you can delete it from your logs in the admin area. Hopefully, that makes sense. Better description text back there explaining why you can't delete them would probably be nice. I can see that an "Archive" button might be useful to at least hide some actions, if you'd want to, as well.

Home Page Open Graph
Your home page still does have a query string, it's just not necesarily shown in the URL. The same would go for an SEF URL.. there is an underlying query string you can still use. To do so, go to the Menu Manager and click into your home page menu item. There is a parameter for Link, which you can't edit. That will have the query string variables in it. You can click, drag, highlight and copy/paste that to notepad or something and use those values for the custom tag. It would look something like:
index.php?option=com_content&view=featured
From there, you should be able to create the Custom Object as normal.

Facebook Amex Big Break
Congratulations! We saw that contest going on and almost entered, but were pretty sure our work with Facebook would disqualify us. I'm excited to see that we're playing a part in your site, and that award, in the long run. Very well done, and we hope you the best of success. If you have to present to Facebook, feel free to drop our name... a lot :D

It's exciting to see what you, and a few other venturesome folk, are doing with the Custom Open Graph Actions. We will have easier implementation of those features over the next few months, and really appreciate your feedback so that we can tell where the difficult points are. That's how we improve our extension is by knowing what needs work. We know it makes Open Graph easier, because it'd be very difficult without JFBConnect, but also realize there are some rough edges right now.

Best wishes,
Alex

Perfect explanation on Activity Log. Explains a lot. I was seeing certain availability for deleting and not making the connection to the user behavior on the front end. Thank you for the Home Page tip. As you likely can infer, I'm still learning the joomla platform. Been a bit of a baptism by fire.

You should enter Big Break, if even only for the process of completing the application process. It really gets you to thinking about where you want to take your company. Think that alone has helped positively shape the direction of our business. Winning was cool. That one on one training was gold. We were the first wave, guinea pigs for BB and actually got to go to FB. Think this years winners had FB come to them. Anyway, it helped set a foundation of understanding for the long run considering the ongoing changes and evolution of FB. Plus, the FB/Amex people we've worked with and continue to do so have been outstanding. I'll let the cat out of the bag when I can on that April deal. It's pretty cool. Have your link in our footer :)

Those rough edges are nothing compared to what it would take to go it alone. Your extension is opening up the possibility to get many more businesses onto the open graph who may not have had the opportunity nor skill set to handle it alone. This is just so darn exciting. Started dreaming of creative aggregations this morning and the next phase for our site's development, the plant database. We've got some catch up to do regarding getting our products online. The ole' pdf solution just plain sucks. LOL

This actually brings me to another question. For us, Phase 2 is a plant catalog and Phase 3, online store. Once I get the OG submission done will turn attention to a solution for the catalog. I want something that works well with JFBConnect. I wondered about establishing a K2 database of plants and then installing a shopping cart, but really not sure. Any preference for extensions and suggestions for an implementation sequence that works well with JFBConnect? Not solid on Virtuemart. What I've read makes it tough to have confidence, but that could be my inexperience.

Have a good one Alex,
Lisa

Stuck again.

Using that dynamic html module for the button and I created a new custom object for the home page.
For query parameter I put this:
option=com_content
view=article
id=index.php?option=com_content&view=featured (guessing this is wrong)

Didn't work.

Got confused when you said ''custom tag''. Guessed you were talking about an html module. Created a hard coded one:

triggerAction('1','www.diggersdelight.com/index.php?option=...ontent&view=featured')

Didn't work.

;) Of course, I forgot to do this task before I submitted to FB....

I have the front page Dig It button module turned off until I can figure this out.

Lisa,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. For the custom tag, I meant when you create a "Custom Object". It sounds like you did that and added the following to the custom params:
option=com_content
view=article
id=index.php?option=com_content&view=featured
You're correct, that's wrong. I believe the link you got from your home page menu item was: index.php?option=com_content&view=featured
If so, your custom params should simply be:
option=com_content
view=featured
That's it. Basically, just break the query string URL up into the xxx=yyy and throw them into the parameters. Hope that makes sense, but if not, let us know.

Finally, thanks for your information on the Big Break program. Sounds awesome, and hope you're loving every minute of running the business! Lots of stress, but lots of fun.. for us at least :)

Best of luck to you, and keep us posted on how things go for you,
Alex
