I received your PM with URL and admin details. However, I'm still not sure how to test Google authentication. The front-end of the site shows a login area, but no Google login button. In the admin area, the site is not in "Offline mode", so I'm not sure how to get to where I can login. I was planning to turn Offline Mode off, temporarily, to see and test Google auth.

Let me know how I should be testing on that site.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
The front end is password protected. I provided the username and password. Then you can see the front end of the site to test.

Thanks for explaining the login credential process. I just tested quite a bit on your site. I wasn't able to determine an exact cause, but I did see that you were using JFBConnect v8.0.3 on your site. The current release is v8.0.6. Both 8.0.4 and 8.0.5 have functional changes that affect Google authentication. 8.0.6 changes the Google (and Facebook) buttons to comply with changes in their platform policies.

Please update to the latest release and see that makes things work. If not, we'll gladly continue to help investigate.

Also check the full JFBConnect changelog for more details on each release.

Thanks,
Alex

Will try this Alex, but I notice that the app gives no indication that there's an update, and I could find no info on the site on how to update. I guess I'm meant to update like i did a fresh install, but I'm cautious by nature and would prefer to confirm that before I do an update.

Can you confirm? Thanks.

The Overview page of JFBConnect has an icon that should indicate if an update is available and the Extensions -> Updates area of Joomla should also show an update when you click the "Find Updates" button.

If you're not seeing those update options, please let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Please check the note at the top, "Some update sites are disabled. You may want to check the Update Sites Manager." My guess is that our update site has been disabled for some reason.

Let us know if that fixes the issue.

Thanks,
Alex

The good news is that the update solved the Google login issue. But if I had seen the update I would have installed it and we would have avoided this thread. Pity.

I'm glad to hear the update fixed your issue. We investigated what was wrong with the Find Updates mechanism this morning and found how we were not always reporting the correct version of JFBConnect to Joomla 3.9 based sites. That issue has been resolved and you should see updates for new versions going forward.

Thanks,
Alex
