I will have to create another app to do that. What I did was ignore their new long list of App types and just saved without making any choices. Then I selected the App and chose the platform, and then settings to fill in the rest.

* Server IP Whitelist is blank
* Update Settings IP Whitelist is blank
* Update Notification Email is blank (though this shouldn't matter)
* Client Token is "None" - No client Token cannot be set to none.
* Require App Secret - No
* Allow API Access to App Settings - Yes
* Require 2-Factor Authenitcation - No

Still would like to know why my authenticated user isn't showing up in the Facebook Channel list of authenticated users.

I never received a reply to this post.

Here is a screen shot of the page, it looks like it is showing up as a website to me.:

Can you send us super admin credentials for your site? We'll need to see the error to understand more about what's going on. If it's possible to send FTP credentials, that could speed things along as well to modify our code and get to the bottom of things quickly.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex, have you attempted to login, or are in in the process of investigating? The reason I asked is that I am locked out of SCLogin and need to reset the password I gave so I can log in as you and release access.

I logged into the admin area with the credentials and have them available. If you change the password, no problem, just send me the new one.

As for the issue, I guess I need details on how to recreate the problem. If I go to the admin area now and go into the Facebook Channel you created, and select a user (either Laurie or Thomas), I see the standard error message:

The selected user has not granted the "manage_pages" permission. Please have them login on the front-end of the site and accept the correct permission.

That's common if the user hasn't granted that permission. To fix, they must login on the front end after the channel is saved so that the correct permission will be requested.

If you're still seeing the "Facebook API Error: (#803) Some of the aliases you requested do not exist: accounts" message, please let us know exactly what steps we need to take to see it.

Thanks,
Alex

Neither of those two people should ever be able to connect to a channel.

They are only "Registered" and have not been assigned any permissions.

After deleting and recreating my account several times I learned that I have to clear local cache, clear CDN cache, clear browser cache and if I do that enough times eventually Facebook answers.

Finally got my account connected to the Facebook channel.

grrrrr.

Wow.. not sure why you'd have to go through steps, but glad it's working.

As for who we display as Users back there, it's anyone who has registered through Facebook. Sometimes, admins want to setup channels for 'regular' users, so we show everyone as an option.

Hope that explains, but if you have any feedback, please let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex, yeh, that sound like a good idea, allowing regular users to have channels.

Let me understand this,. if I set up channels for regular users, then they can post to their Facebook Pages like we post to ours. What is the advantage of that over clicking the Share button?

I Have created the Join Us page tab on our Facebook page that allows people to sign up for our Newsletter without having to leave Facebook I also wanted to install that Join Us page tab on other peoples Facebook page, so providing channels to registrants on the website sounds like something along those lines.

You wouldn't really set it up for 'normal' users. The idea is that, say you have a client that isn't or doesn't want to be an admin on the site.. you can still setup a channel for them so that posts can go automatically to their Facebook page. It's not meant for every user on your site because the social toolbar generally shouldn't show to registered users, but there are cases where the developer/site admin needs to get additional channel permissions from a user and doesn't want/need to make them an admin just to do so.

I Have created the Join Us page tab on our Facebook page that allows people to sign up for our Newsletter without having to leave Facebook I also wanted to install that Join Us page tab on other peoples Facebook page, so providing channels to registrants on the website sounds like something along those lines.

Anyone can add your Facebook Application to their Page. You just have to explain the process of how to do it and they can set it up on their own.

I hope that helps explain,
Alex

Everything is working correctly. I had to clear the cache several times before Facebook finally responded.

Guess Google Chrome served a stale page. The above isn't relevant.

Got it. I can see that as being helpful. We have some affiliates that would want our content to go directly to their Facebook page as soon as it is posted. I think this is what you are referring to.
