Everything works smoothly using the standard Joomla registration/user management but I have just been trying out Community Builder and getting the following message when trying to login. I am not wanting the user to have to confirm his email address or have to be approved by the moderator if using an existing social media account to log in.

I have been checked both the Community Builder and JFBConnect settings which I would assume are set correctly. Community Builder has only 3 required fields being username, email and password

The thing is the user is actually logged in because I have some menu items set to registered and these are now available. Indeed I clicked them and they work properly.

Well that's a good question :) Yesterday, I would have given you a response about how CB doesn't let JFBConnect save a user to its system if you have profile fields set to 'required' that aren't being imported into from the user's social profile.

However, our latest release, JFBConnect v7, just came out today. One of the changelog items is:

Bug Fix: Social Profiles - Community Builder - registration can fail if required fields aren't populated

www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/general/changelog

I'd recommend upgrading JFBConnect to see if that helps fix your issue. You will need to register with a new account (i.e. delete the incorrect user from before) to test. This update won't fix any 'dangling' users that are in Joomla but not the CB database, but should hopefully fix the problem from happening again in the future.

Of course, we'd love to hear your feedback on if the update helps or if you continue to have issues.

Thanks,
Alex

Yes login/registration works really smoothly with Community Builder. Great stuff.

One very minor issue is that the modifications I made to the SCLogin module appear to have been lost. This surprises me as the freelancer did these modifications via templates overrides. Still I am sure it's not going to be a major problem to solve.

Fantastic! I'm glad to hear the update finally seems to have fixed this issue. It's been a problem for a while and took a lot of effort to determine a workaround. Good to have the feedback about it.

Something strange is happening then. The SCLogin module supports HTML overrides and has a CSS theming system to let you completely control the output without worrying about your changes being lost on upgrade. For more details on theming, see our Joomla login module theme guide .

I hope it's easy to get back any changes that were made.

Thanks,
Alex
