Couple of questions:
1. Looks like our account is expiring soon, but I have not been able to spend adequate time to get SC setup as it needs to be. I will try and get more time for it in the next couple of weeks, but as I have not used support very often would it be possible to get a support extension, without having to renew right away?

2. Do I still have access to the documentation once my account has expired?

3. Is it possible to have new posts to jomsocial, joomla and sobipro, (by members), to be broadcast to our facebook business page?
How about to my profile page.

Many thanks for a great product!
Colin

Ducky,
I'm sorry to hear your subscription is near expiration. We can't extend your subscription just for support. However, we have no problem continuing to support you with any issues you encounter and need help with while your subscription is still active. Of course, we also offer a 30% discount on renewals if you do so while your subscription is still active. Once your subscription expires, you'd have to renew at full price.

2. Do I still have access to the documentation once my account has expired?

Absolutely! Our documentation is a big sales point, actually. It's available whether you are logged in or not. The things you'll lose when your subscription expires are:
* Access to new releases
* Use of the Autotune Automatic Configuration Tool
* Priority support

3. Is it possible to have new posts to jomsocial, joomla and sobipro, (by members), to be broadcast to our facebook business page?

There isn't a way to have them automatically post. However, our Social Channels feature is what allows you to setup a Facebook Page (or FB Group or Twitter Stream or LinkedIn Company Page) so that you can easily push content to it and/or pull in the feed from those channels to display on your site. The process isn't automatic on new posts and requires you (the admin) to use the social toolbar at the bottom of the page that JFBConnect adds. The "Create Post" button will let you add a comment and push any URL from your site to any or all channels with one click.

How about to my profile page.

Currently, we don't support a personal Facebook Profile with Channels. It's something we may add in the future, but there are differences in posting to Pages and Groups vs personal profiles that would take some effort.

I hope that helps explain, but if you have any other questions, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Good morning Alex,

Ok trying to get this all done before expiration.

followed the channel setup
select ehcanada as user and get :
"The selected user has not granted the "manage_pages" permission. Please have them login on the front-end of the site and accept the correct permission"
figured out this means have to login using facebook login. That message is now gone.

now showing, "no stream data found."
published stream and all is good. ...so far

So, what will now post to our facebook page?
if I login to the site through normal login, will it still post to our page?
We are currently using the hello-me login module, should i be using the JFC connect instead?

I'm glad to hear you got things going so far with setting up the channel. Hopefully the answers below help further.

So, what will now post to our facebook page?

When you're logged in as the administrator on your site, you should see our "Social Toolbar" with the Social Meta, Preview and Create Post buttons. If you use the Create Post button, that will allow you to post the current page, along with a comment, to Facebook. You, or any admin, can do that without having to be logged into Facebook or even being the admin of the Facebook Page.

if I login to the site through normal login, will it still post to our page?

Yes. The Create Post button works for any admins on your site. You can change the permissions so other groups can post too, but it's generally not recommended for all users.

We are currently using the hello-me login module, should i be using the JFC connect instead?

That's up to you. The Hello Me module is a fine module and has some good 'logged in' options. Some things you may consider:
* Using the SCLogin module only
* Setup the SCLogin module for guests (so they can login using social networks) and the Hello Me module for registered users (so they see the JomSocial options when logged in)
* Using the Hello Me module and adding the social login buttons to it with our {JFBCLogin} tag.
In general, JFBConnect is meant to be flexible to let you add the social login buttons anywhere, but the SCLogin module is the simplest option.

I hope that helps,
Alex

"you should see our "Social Toolbar" with the Social Meta, Preview and Create Post buttons."
I do not see the social toolbar.
where should i see this?
do i have to login with facebook or regular login?
How can it be setup so other specific member levels can have their posts broadcast to facebook as well?
i.e. we have 4 member levels that we would like the user to add posts, that are broadcasted to facebook. Premium, Featured, Blogger and Photographer.

I am starting to look into the open graph objects for sobipro. Without getting into details, will it be possible that when a user adds a new SP entry, it posts to facebook as well?
I was watching your tutorials, good job on the presentation at the Joomla conference!

Thanks Alex for all your assistance!

It's on by default and should show to any Super Administrators that are logged into your site. It doesn't matter if you are logged into Facebook or not.

If you're not seeing it, check the "Enable Social Toolbar" setting in the JFBConnect -> Configuration area.

The Channels feature isn't really meant for all users of your site to use. Since you are posting as the owner of the Facebook Page, that's not really a power you may want to give to your users. Generally, it's meant for administrators of your site to have a way to push whatever URL from your site to your Page (or Twitter or LinkedIn feeds) that they think would be good. Opening up to a large amount of your users could be ripe for abuse and problems.

With that said, if you want the social toolbar to be visible to other groups, click the "Options" button in the JFBConnect -> Overview page and set the "Post on Social Network" permission to whatever level you'd like.

We don't have a SobiPro Open Graph plugin right now. It's something on our to-do list, but I don't have a timeline as to when it may be available. The Open Graph plugin for SP would allow for automatic 'actions' to be posted to a users wall, like "I just posted something to <yoursite>". JFBConnect also allows custom actions, which are triggered by your users with a button. So, you could have a "I love this", "I played this" or "I used this" button that your users can click to add a quick message and add the action manually to their timeline. If you'd like more information on this, just let me know. It's one of the more advanced features to implement though.

I was watching your tutorials, good job on the presentation at the Joomla conference!

Awesome! Thanks so much, we liked presenting there and hope to do it again.

So is it the open graph that will broadcast members actions to their facbook account, correct?

Any idea why the jomsocial login window keeps poping up. even after i have loggged in ...whether i use hello me or jfb connect.

Like - Like an Object asks for screenshots .. is it just a screenshot of our site with the like button?
it also ask for notes on publish and manage pages... please explain.

Is all this necessary just for facebook login, or do i have some open graph mixed in here?
I went through the setup again and when i try the FB login I get, 'Given URL is not allowed by the Application configuration: One or more of the given URLs is not allowed by the App's settings. It must match the Website URL or Canvas URL, or the domain must be a subdomain of one of the App's domains.' ...But the url in the facbook app is my site url.

This is definitely of interest as well. I would like to setup, "I've been here" for SP parks. "I'm attending this event" for JS events to name a few...

When is the best time to get support, I really need to get these things done before my subscription comes due end of September. Especially if the SP options are not possible, It would not make sense to renew, as I will have to look for an alternative.

Sorry to be a pain in the Arse,
In case it helps, your super admin access on our site is still setup.

Yes. Open Graph actions are the recommended way by Facebook to post back activity from your site for your users to Facebook.

Any idea why the jomsocial login window keeps poping up. even after i have loggged in ...whether i use hello me or jfb connect.

I'm not sure. This sounds like a JomSocial issue and I'd recommend contacting them.

Facbook login is still not working. The facebook aps say it need to be reviewed.

Generally, the login functionality should still work while in review. You just won't be able to get all the profile data you've configured in JFBConnect. The review process usually takes 1-2 days after you've submitted your app.

then in the app Like - Like an Object asks for screenshots .. is it just a screenshot of our site with the like button?
it also ask for notes on publish and manage pages... please explain.

If you're using the standard Facebook Like button, there is no need to go through the approval process. You only need to submit the Likes action if you're using a custom Like button (your own image or a Like button in a Joomla extension that is unrelated to Facebook).

The manage_pages permission is only required for the Channels feature. You don't need to submit this either *if* the channel owner is an admin of your app. The only time you'd need to submit this is if you want to setup channels for Facebook users that are not admins of your Facebook Application, which is uncommon.

Is all this necessary just for facebook login, or do i have some open graph mixed in here?

No, most of what you're asking about is advanced stuff. For Facebook Authentication, the process is usually only to follow our Facebook Application Configuration guide . Autotune should set all the parameters for you.

Things like submitting your app for approval mean you've configured additional social profile plugins to import extended data about the user's profile. Extended information requires approval from Facebook for your app/site to get that data from your users.

Open Graph Actions require that the user authenticate on your site using Facebook. So, FB authentication should be setup first, then try configuring Open Graph Actions. There are more permissions (publish_actions) required to be submitted and approved by your users for Actions to work.

At it's basic level though, authentication shouldn't take too long to get working.

This is the most important feature we are interested in, as 90% of our site is SP, can it be setup without the plugin?
How about when a member...
- Registers to JS?
- Posts a new JS event?
- Adds a JS photo or video?

I'm assuming you mean JomSocial here? If so, we have an Open Graph plugin for JomSocial which can post actions on:
* Joining a Group
* Uploading a Photo
Registering is not something that Facebook allows actions to be posted for. They consider it too 'light' of an activity and don't want it in user's timelines.

This is definitely of interest as well. I would like to setup, "I've been here" for SP parks. "I'm attending this event" for JS events to name a few...

To do this, you create a 'Custom Object'. You can set the URL parameters that the object should apply to based on the non-sef URL. So, for example, you want it to apply to all SP content in a certain category, you'd enter the parameters as:
option=com_sobipro
catid=123
I haven't used SP in years, so the above is just an example. You can be as specific, or generic, as you want with the parameters to have your Object apply to as many pages as you want.

Next, setup a Custom Action and associate it with the Object you created.

Finally, in your site, add the custom Action button:
{JFBCAction id=1 text=I've been here! inactive=I've already clicked this button}

Test with an admin account. If it works, you'll need to submit your custom action (and possibly your custom Object) to Facebook.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Hey Alex!

Thanks for the information. I'll try out the JS custom objects.

This is the most important feature we are interested in, as 90% of our site is SP, can it be setup without the plugin?

I did not see anything on this. I believe you thought i was talking about JS.

We use SP for all sorts of things, adding a park, trail or place, adding a travel tip, adding a community. So it is vital that we can figure out how to have these things post to facebook, twitter etc. Is this possible without a plugin?
