The action name for reading an article, using the built-in Facebook read action, is actually news.reads (there's an extra 's' at the end of read). Try that and see if you have better results. We need to update our guide and call out how to find the built-in action name better.

Hope that helps, but let us know if you run into other issues.. or when you get your action approved. We're excited to hear from everyone about action approvals and how they're liking/using the new Open Graph Action system.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex,
I think it's working because I can see the message that "An action has been posted to your Facebook Timeline." ... but nothing apear on my timeline !!!??

Should I wait (more than 15 minutes) ? Should I get approval before ?

Thanks

Eric

It can take 0-20 minutes to show up on your Timeline. However, if you're seeing the error you mentioned above, it's not posting at all.. not sure why the popup would say it did post, that sounds like a bug.

If your action really is 'news.read', it will need to be updated to 'news.reads' as that name is just wrong.

Thanks,
Alex

Sorry Alex, I didn't mentioned that I've corrected the 'news.reads' and didn't get the error. Status in Activity Log is 'Published' but I didn't see anything in my timeline (same for my tester fb account)

Don't necessary check your Timeline. Check the "Activity Log" from your Facebook home page (in the bottom right of your cover photo). That will show all actions that have been added to your Timeline. Not all Activity shows up on your feed view, and when the action hasn't been approved by Facebook, it's definitely not going to show up. From the Activity view though, you can click the bubble next to the action and say "Always Show On Timeline".

That should make it appear.. though I'm honestly not sure if it will be visible to others until the action is approved. If you see that in your Activity Log on Facebook, it's time to prepare to submit it to Facebook for approval!

Hope that explains,
Alex

Awesome! Good luck, and definitely keep us posted. We're excited to hear about all actions that get approved (or denied) so we can get feedback on the process, issues, or any other feedback our users may have. It's definitely a bit of work right now. We're always looking to simplify things however we can, so let us know if you have any suggestions.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

Here is my submitted request :

This action is implemented using JFBConnect for the Joomla CMS

1. Go to www.grandcentralmiami.com/events and sign up with your Facebook account
2. Click on any upcoming events (for example : grandcentralmiami.com/the-end-of-days-party)
3. Just wait 10 seconds and a popup will appear to notify the user that an action has been added to their Timeline , the automatic action 'Read Article' will post on user's timeline like : "User read an article on GrandCentral Miami"

User can : undo and disable future sharing ; See all acitivy

This action has been tested with my Admin account 'rico.poulos' and with tester account :'karim.flamani'

I've provide 3 screenshot (attached)

and here is the approval status :

"Changes needed
Please make the changes below and resubmit for review.
You will need to make some changes to your built-in read action before we can continue with the approval process. Read actions may only be published when
1.) there is a strong indication that the user is actually reading an article and only after the user has been on the page for a minimum of 10 seconds.
2.) You must provide users with the ability to remove any read stories you publish to Facebook, and include this option on the same page where you host the article.
3.) You should provide users with the ability to turn sharing on/off globally, and the setting a user selects should persist.
Once you have made the appropriate changes please resubmit. For further information, please see: developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/s...iteria/builtin_read/ **If you are submitting an action for a native mobile app please include a video that references all of the criteria outlined above**"

I'm a little bit confused, any ideas ?

Thanks

Eric

Eric,
If it helps, we're a bit confused as well. Many users have successfully submitted read actions. There have been a few reports of failed submissions with the same response you got.

Some things to check:
* Make sure you're running v4.3.2. The releases after v4.3.0 have some improvements to the popup which should adhere more closely to Facebook's requirements (i.e. a Disable and Delete option and a popup when a user returns to the page to show that the action was already posted to their Timeline).
* Obviously, read their message and let us know if you see anything mentioned that does look like we're violating.

We have an email out to our Facebook rep to understand what's going on a little closer and if there's anything more we can tweak. Hopefully, we'll hear back within a few days.

Until then, I wouldn't recommend re-submitting that action until you hear from us. Feel free to try to create others though, if you have other actions you want.

This may just be a teething issue between JFBConnect and Facebook's approvers, and rest assured that we're doing what we can to smooth things out.

Thanks,
Alex
