I am logging into the facebook through my website using JFBConnect v 4.3, and all the latest plugins. on Joomla 2.5.8.

Once logged in, I am trying to post comments (and like updates) but when I click on the Comment button, I get the message "Somethings Gone Wrong. We're working to get it fixed as soon as we can".

I am not sure why this is happening, but I believe its probably down to a setting I have, either with my site settings, or app settings.

I would appreciate some advice how I can prove this - I am showing this on my test site - fgatest.com, but it is also on my live site.

I have included 10 screen prints below showing my issue - I have included settings options visible from the settings on the comments box as well - please let me know what other information you need to help me resolve the issue?

I posted a comment on that page without issue. It's possible it was a temporary hiccup with Facebook or because your page was 'new'. Facebook sometimes needs a little time for 'new' sites before Likes or Comments will work while they scan for malware, porn or other 'bad' things.

If you're still having issues, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex - I am still having problems - the issue is exactly the same.

I am using an account that I have had for many years and a test account I created a few weeks ago ( the owner of the appid).

Both accounts get the same issue.

I have tried them in Firefox and IE8 and both experience the same issue.

Any other suggestions would be of help, because at the moment this is stopping me going live with JFBConnect.

Rich,
Can you try from a different computer or different location? I'm not sure what's going wrong, but we can't recreate this problem at all. I just put up a lot more tests using FF17 and IE10 (don't have IE8 handy, but can if necessary). We've tried from 2 different locations (test earlier, and the ones right now), but have only used on account.

From here, not sure what's happening, but if you can broaden your tests a bit to hopefully narrow things down (different location, different browsers, etc), that would really help. The other idea is to clear the cache from your system as a 'bad' build of the Facebook Javascript library may be cached on your browser causing the same problem to occur even though it may (if it existed) have been fixed.

Keep us posted,
Alex

Alex - I not sure what is going wrong. I have tried on my mac under safari, as well as the laptop which is XP (FF, IE8 and Chrome).

One thing Ive noted - when I was trying things, I locked out my FB accoumt and when I reset the password, It came up with the following about locations which in fairness I have no idea why and how to correct it, but it seems to tie in a little with the updates google suggests is in the area of locations.

I hope this gives you some pointers because I'm stumped.

Alex - the problem seems to have something to do with location fields of some description not filled in in Facebook.
On the JFBConnect tab Profile there is a mapping between the Location and Facebook entry.
I havent fully tested this yet and need to go to bed so cant do it tonight, but I think if the reference on facebook isnt properly filled that you are trying to map, it may give the situaltion we are seeing. Or something in this area.

If this is the case, we somehow need a default from the plugin, to prevent the error.

It needs some proving but thats what I think it may be.

I'm not sure at all what's going on with those screen shots or the location stuff in general. It seems like the browser is trying to use your location (from IP address, wifi and/or gps), which is a newer feature that browsers can do. However, I'm not sure why or how Facebook is trying to use that data.

The only thing that what you say brings up is if you have restrictions on your Facebook Application by geography or IP address. I'd recommend going into your Facebook App in the Developers Area and simply make sure that none of the settings are setup to restrict your application in any way.

Definitely keep us posted on what you find, because I'm a bit confused and curious as well!

It sounds like it may take me a while to bottom this out, as facebook isnt really my personal knowledge base.

Maybe you guys could help me by providing some recommended settings that SourceCoast state that we should have set in the configuation, including Kunena Integration settings in JFBConnect.. also in relation to the Mappings.

It would also be beneficial to understand what appid settings the SourceCoast team use when you create the appids on the facebook, so I can try to ascertain whether there is a difference between yours and mine.

Thanks

Rich,
The Comment box has nothing to do with Kunena. The settings you use in the Profile area won't have any effect on how the Comment box works, so you can eliminate that from what to test.

As for the App Settings, we simply recommend using the Autotune Tool, which is a part of JFBConnect. That will automatically configure your app to the correct settings. If you've been editing your app settings directly on the Facebook Developer website, you can either:
1) Remove all the settings from your app on the Developer page and re-run autotune. That should reset everything.
2) Create a whole new appid/secret key and enter those into JFBConnect. Re-run Autotune and that will set everything to the good defaults we recommend. If the new key has the same problem, you can always go back to the old one (if there's settings or data you want to preserve). Using a the new key will help diagnose where the problem may lie though.

Hope that helps,
Alex

I have removed the app, created a new one and rerun Autotune. - No difference - I am stumped!

I have a word doc showing all my settings which i dont want to post on this forum (for obvious reasons) - can I send it privately if you want to see them?
