Alex,

I understand your point and considerations. So we will see what happens till march. :-)

I tried to enter tags manually by using the tag-commands in my article.
As that did not work I deleted the manual tags and used module positions instead.
Their content was filled by the automated tagging (as general informations).
Did I explain better meaning can you recreate?

Fritz,
Thanks for the explanation. Just a few more questions:
1) When you entered the tags manually, what did (or didn't) happen? Could you see the 'raw' tags on the page, or were they removed?
2) How were you testing if they 'worked'? Looking at the HTML for the og:xyz tag, or just looking at was posted on the user's wall when they clicked the Like button or comment box when posted to the wall?

We really haven't heard of any issues with the manual tags, so not sure what the problem would be. From other posts, I know we've seen duplicate Open Graph tags on the page, so just not sure if ours aren't working at all or are just being overridden by the other tags that are being inserted.

Thanks,
Alex

Fritz,
If you looked at it from the developer area *and* you had the extra tags I've been helping you with in another thread, the extra tags were probably what you were seeing in the developer area.

Can you please start over, in a way. First, make sure the extra tags are completely gone. Then, manually add whatever tags you want. Then, test again either in the developer area or open up the HTML on your page and search for "og:description" or whatever you're trying to set.

Let us know how that goes,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I tried it again with another article: swat-mission.com/index.php/location/presseberichte

I manually added:
{SCOpenGraph image=http://www.swat-mission.com/images/RapidGallery/Presse2/WZ_Artikel_11.10.12.jpg}
{SCOpenGraph description=Presseberichterstattungen über S.W.A.T. MISSON... auch die WZ hatte jede Menge Spaß}

Image works correct, BUT in FB Developer there is: "Meta Tag: <meta property="og:description" content="Im Rahmen eines unserer Events fand das Photosho" />"

I´m really annoyed.

Can you help

Regards

Fritz

Fritz,
Sorry for the delay on this. We've done some investigation on the Open Graph issue you're having and believe we've found the issue. Right now, if you have the "Automatically use beginning of article for description" setting enabled, then {SCOpenGraph description=...} tags are ignored on the page.

We're actually working on a completely new Open Graph implementation that will be released with the v4.3 release of JFBConnect (within about a month). That will have a lot more flexibility in how Open Graph tags are set both at the article and category level as well as support for more extensions than just Content and K2. Until then, unfortunately, the best I can suggest is disabling the Auto-description and manually setting your own. If you don't set one, the standard meta description tag will be used for the Open Graph description tag as well, so as long as you're setting normal meta description tags, then you probably don't need the auto-description feature.

Hope that helps explain, and sorry for the delay in getting back to this.

Thanks,
Alex
