Good morning,

I have been using JFB Connect since the very early days, and I am 1000% delighted with the product. I have to say, it is the best Joomla Component on the market, in my opinion. However, I recently noticed while testing a new site, that the Login button for JFB Connect is not appearing on Chrome browser. I have both Joomla 1.5 and 1.7 site, so various versions of JFB Connect installed, and some at version 4.0 whilst others at 3.x.

My Chrome version is 13.0.782.215 and I am using MAC Lion OS

Any thoughts on what I could be doing wrong?

BTW - FYI, the demo site for JFB Connect does not work in Chrome either www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/demo/demo-1-registerlogin

Thanks again for the best component on the market.

Gary,
Thanks, as always, for the praise. We're suckers for it.

As for your specific issue, no, no real suggestions. I can use almost the exact same version of Chrome. 13.0.782.220 without issues on the demo site. What is in the place of the Login button? Is it just text, or is it not working when you click it, or something else? Would love to hear more about what's actually happening.

As for suggestions, I'd recommend the following:
* Try to browse to a page that doesn't work first in Incognito mode (Cmd+Shift+N). This will disable old cookies and a slew of other things that may be messing it up in your history. Likely not the cause, but easiest to test.
* Disable all extensions you might have installed. You can either do this manually (Windows Menu -> Extensions) or you can use "Disable All Extension Plus". I've never used it, but it comes highly recommended for easily enabling/disabling lots of extensions (if you have a lot installed):
chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ejhdjf...enillofhpmikailkjpkb

Please let us know if the above helps in anyway.. really never heard of this, but strange things happen in a lot of scenarios, and it's our job to try to make JFBConnect work around them if we can :)

Thanks again,
Alex

Thanks for the prompt support as always Alex.

I will try some of your suggestions later on today, however, I am MAC based, so this may be part of the cause.

Will update you as soon as I can get some more testing done.

The test I just did was on a MacBook Pro w/ Lion and that version of Chrome I posted, so that shouldn't be the issue.. but things aren't always as they should be in the web world :)

I also tested, and test daily just by normal use, on Windows 7 with 13.0.782.215 m (not sure what the 'm' at the end is).

Keep me posted!

Fixed it Alex,

I cleared my browsing data on Google Chrome, "Since beginning of history" and all is now working. Also upgrade to latest version, but this did not fix the problem, until I cleared my browsing data as outlined above.

Thanks again for your continued support.

Glad to hear that worked. Not sure why it was necessary, but with 4.0, JFBConnect has been updated to use Facebook's new (and required as of Oct) cookie style. It's possible that an old cookie was stored that was causing issues.. or something.

Pete,
You look to still have JomSocial's Facebook integration enabled. That should be disabled. Please read the following guide for using all of JFBConnect's extra features with JomSocial and how to integrate best:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/thir...ration-for-jomsocial

Additionally, you have another Facebook extension on your page, but I can't tell what it is. In the head section of your HTML is a call the following code:
LazyLoad.js('http://connect.facebook.net/en_GB/all.js#xfbml=1', function(){});
Not sure where that's coming from, but you'll need to get rid of that line as well. That's re-loading the Facebook Javascript API and re-initializing it in a way that will cause problems with JFBConnect, even after the JomSocial FB integration is disabled.

Hope that helps, but if you need anything else, just let us know!

Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm re-starting everything from scratch with JFB.

I was trying out some other FB connect plug-ins - thought I had disabled all of them, so good heads up - I'll take another sweep to make sure they're all disabled/uninstalled and look for that line of code.

Thanks again, will let you know the outcome

All is good.

I cleared out some lingering garbage and re-installed and also reset my API key (just in case).

I also added the FB Login to the other pages!

Thanks for your fast assistance.

Funny thing you could, as a programmer, probably appreciate.
After re-installing and turning everything on, reconfiguring it all, I was like WHY ISNT IT SHOWING UP!?!?!?!?!? Going back through all the settings...cursing...then the Ooooh yeah, I forgot to re-assign the page :)
