I had a very tough time to know which file to download to get all these turned green. I downloaded and installed com_jfbconnect_j1.6_j1.7_v3.4.1.tar.gz and omSocial_PostToWall_j1.6_j1.7_20110802.tar.gz.

This file right here jfbconnect_profile_plugins_j1.6_j1.7_v3.4_20110814_unzip_first.zip 3.4.x - Joomla 1.6. In the version it says Joomla 1.6 but in the file name it ahs J1.7 as well. Do I have to install this? I got error message jinstaller can't find XML setup file. I got the same error message when trying to install jfbconnect_social_modules_j1.6_j1.7_v3.4_20110802_unzip_first.zip.

Please advise.

Also after In stalled all these, do I have an option to have my user invite their Facebook friends by using the Jomsocial friend invite?

Sorry for the confusion. We'll definitely look at our configuration guide to see if we can explain some things better.. which obviously, we probably can.

For the profile plugins, you'll need to unzip that file first. The profile plugins inside will work for Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 sites, but not Joomla 1.5 sites (we don't like Joomla's numbering scheme either). Once unzipped, just install the profile plugins for the components you'd want to import a user's Facebook profile into.. which sounds like just JomSocial.

Once JFBConnect is setup, you shouldn't use JomSocial's Facebook integration, and should leave the API/Secret key in their configuration area blank. You likely won't be able to use their invitation feature, but we honestly haven't tried. JFBConnect does have it's own JFBCInvite module, which is different than JomSocial's, but works quite well. For more information on JomSocial integration, and some common questions, see:

Hope that answers your questions,
Alex

Thank you so much and i got a lot of accomplishments tonight but I need help with a few more things:

1- when I have it redirect to JomSocial profile, I got the error - please see the screenshot. I think this Joomla thing which I screwed up but i couldn't figure out to fix it so if you can help, I appreciate it.

2 - I could follow your instructions to add the Facebook button under the Jomsocial log in box but I also like to add it to the first page of the Jomsocial registration form also. If it is possible I like to have it on top the Name field so that people can quickly see it. That is another place where JomSocial have their Facebook button. Please see picture.

If you want to see my site it is at www.angkorthom.us/social

I begin to like it now and I am sure my users will like it too.
Thanks

Nokorthom,
The JomSocial profile redirect issue is a known problem. We're working to have a fix for that in the upcoming 4.0 release (due out next week). The way we're doing redirects works for most menu items, but depending on the component and Joomla configuration, it can run into issues. Joomla 1.6/1.7 and JomSocial have this issue. Sorry for the trouble, but for now, all we can recommend is redirecting to a different page.

As for adding the button to the registration page, I updated the JomSocial integration article with instructions on how to do that. If you have any questions, or feel we could improve our documentation, just let us know!

Thanks,

OK, thanks for the info. I'll wait for the upgrade and in the mean time I have it redirected to Home.
For adding the Facebook button, I saw the instruction and I did it now. It works perfectly. I just needed to scroll down a little bit. :) Thanks a lot.
