That's good to hear, and thanks for posting your solution. It's always nice to know how things get resolved so we can code in things to look for (such as this) to provide better warnings to users in the future.

On another note, concerning the issue cybarton pointed out, we've created a new topic explaining the callback issue and some steps that are necessary to correct it. Your site is affected by this, and just wanted to let you know. The problem lies in that your site can be reached by <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="www.clockworkgreen.com">www.clockworkgreen.com or clockworkgreen.com and FB is only recognizing www.clockworkgreen.com">www.clockworkgreen.com as valid.

Hopefully this explains the problem more and helps you fix it:

Cybarton, you said:

My site has the redirect loop error. Before that I had the avatar error.... hoping this will be fixed quickly as it is a totally cool plugin for jomsocial.

Can you explain the avatar error you were having, and how you fixed it? Others are having this issue as well and we haven't come up with a great solution (since we haven't been able to recreate it yet).. Any information you can provide would be very welcome.
The posts about it:

Thanks again!

I have read this thread, but did not see a solution to redirect loop issue when trying to revisit the site. Login module enabled.

Basically, unless I delete cookies, I cannot access my site - getting redirect loop error. After deleting cookies, I can access my homepage, but clicking FBConnect again gets the redirect loop error.

My .htaccess is setup to recognize <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="www.xyz.com">www.xyz.com and xyz.com

Any advice? I'd love to use this module.

Justyn,

Make sure you have not already created a user for the FB account you are testing. Check the FBConnect "User Map" and be sure to delete the account there. Also, delete the created Joomla account in the User Manager.

After that, clear all your private data (cookies, cache), and try the process again. If this does not solve it, then something else may be causing your issue.

This error will not go Away...

You can create a user, but once you log out and try and return to the site the error is there.

So this is basically useless. I've edited the helper file, and J! is in the root directory.

Any other ideas?

Cheers,

Rich

When someone attempts to connect using Facebook Connect it displays the following Joomla 500 Error:

500 - View not found [name, type, prefix]: jfbconnect,html,jfbconnectView

I am using Core SEF with Apache mod_rewrite enabled. Any idea how to fix this? The connect feature worked when I was already logged into Facebook and went through the connect procedures, but it seems to be erroring out if I attempt to do a connect by putting in my Facebook email/password. Any ideas??

Core SEF + Apache mod_rewrite will show the following in the address bar: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.siteurl.com/component/jfbconnect/">www.siteurl.com/component/jfbconnect/
This is the page that is displaying the 500 error listed above. I wish I had known the component didn't function properly with SEF prior to purchasing it :( I hope someone finds a fix for this. Thanks!

I Started a new site and the jfbconnect is part of my planning strategy... <!-- s:-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:-) -->
unfortunately I got into the Redirect Loop problem, as well.

It is working fine to create the account and connect BUT,
after logging out there is no way to come back to my site since it is getting the Redirect Loop error.

the only way I fix it is but deleting the users, but then again, after using the facebook connect
again the same problem.

my website is at; <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="www.goodreality.com">www.goodreality.com

hope to get a fix to the problem <!-- s:-) --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":-)" title="Smile" /><!-- s:-) -->
Regards
Eagle

The issue is somehow related to the user. When I delete the user account that I am using to access Facebook connect from the user list I can log in ONCE. If I log out and try to log back in I get a redirect. Delete that user from the user list and I can log in again ONCE.

It never used to do this, now its started for no reason.
