No problem for the response, and hopeful fix soon. It's an obscure issue, and sorry you're affected.
As for the release, we usually try to Tweet about new releases and/or blog about them, depending upon the severity (of bugs) or wow-ness (of features). Additionally, the version numbers in the JFBConnect overview page in the admin area will change automatically, which is always a good place to check. Finally, when a new release is out, we try to update any forum posts for users that we know may be affected (like this one).
It's not a perfect system.. we know. I'd just recommend looking at your Overview area this weekend to see if 4.0.2 is out, and go from there
