Hello!

I'm getting the same error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /homepages/0/*****/htdocs/components/com_jfbconnect/controllers/loginregister.php on line 132

I have the plugins enabled ...just checked. I just installed all the files this evening too, so they're up to date.

I was seeing this same error when i was testing FB requests with different accounts. I think it has to do when ur on the same machine and trying to login with different ids. In one situation i logged in with a fb user account, sent a request then logged out. Then I logged in with a different fb user to read the request and it brought up the loginregister.php and it gave me this error. ALso I've been logged in as a different canvas app user than the facebook user thats logged in......

Hi!

That didn't work for me...also, on another site I could do the login successfully on the same machine.
I'm not too sure what's going on with this particular site...hope it's not some type of directory permissions thing with the web host...they're 1and1.

The site that is working properly is HostGator.

Chip/Ivan/All,
Very happy to hear that you think you caused it.. but in this case, we did it. There's a bug in JFBConnect which affects a very, very minor amount users and sites, depending on a lot of different things.

We know where the problem is coming from, but honestly, don't know the exact cause. I just logged into your site (Chip) without issues, so I can't recreate it there.

Either way, we're working on a 4.0.2 release which will definitely prevent the white page/fatal error, and hopefully resolve the issue permanently. If not, at the least, there will be better error reporting using normal Joomla System Messages and not ugly pages.

4.0.2 should be out later this week. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for the reports,
Alex

Thanks Alex!

Will we get an email notification of the new release, or should we just check by Friday for the new version number?

Chip,
No problem for the response, and hopeful fix soon. It's an obscure issue, and sorry you're affected.

As for the release, we usually try to Tweet about new releases and/or blog about them, depending upon the severity (of bugs) or wow-ness (of features). Additionally, the version numbers in the JFBConnect overview page in the admin area will change automatically, which is always a good place to check. Finally, when a new release is out, we try to update any forum posts for users that we know may be affected (like this one).

It's not a perfect system.. we know. I'd just recommend looking at your Overview area this weekend to see if 4.0.2 is out, and go from there :)

Hope that helps,
Alex

Chip,
The 4.0.2 release is going through automated testing right now to make sure everything seems right. If you're still having the same issue logging into your own site, we'd love to try and implement our code update to see if it fixes your problem before we actually release 4.0.2. Our automated tests will tell if we broke anything, but since the issue you're having is rare, we can't directly re-create it (though we can get close).

If you're ok with it, please private message me a super admin account for your site. You can PM me by clicking the arrow under my picture (<----) and hitting the mail icon.

We'll let you know when it's done so you can try re-logging in and reporting what happens. If not, 4.0.2 should still be out tomorrow, or this weekend, for you to play with, and hopefully get you fixed up.

Thanks,
Alex

Chip,
Just added the code that will be in the 4.0.2 release to your site. Basically, we perform extra checks to make sure that the information we have from Facebook is correct, and if not, we refresh that information. No matter what, you shouldn't get a white page or fatal PHP error. Hopefully, you should log right in now, but if not, you'll simply get a 'prettier' Joomla-style error message overlaid on your page like normal system messages.

Please test and report any news, good or bad. I deleted my account I created a few days ago.. registered.. logged out, and re-logged back in without issues, so this shouldn't affect 'good' users in any way, just the minor amount that were having problems.

Thanks,
Alex
