That did take care of the 500 error and I thank you immensely. One question though.... Shouldn't the popup window close on it's own accord? I just logged out of the front end of my website and logged back in using facebook. The popup windows shows up, still completely blank, no status or anything and then stays there. If I close the popup window, the main page recycles and I am logged in. Progress has been made!!!

Thanks so much for this and your help in getting it working again.

I'm not seeing the pop-up stay, but this is reported by users every once in a while. That pop-up is completely controlled by Facebook, unfortunately, and we don't have the ability to close it. We can't simply poke into that window because it could contain authentication data, and that's not something Facebook (rightfully) trusts us with.

However, there's a few things you can try:
1) Close Chrome down completely and restart it - This should clear session data and hopefully fix the problem
2) Clear all cache/browser history in Chrome
3) Try another browser, just to see if the pop-up still remains
4) Try another Facebook account.

I tested on your site in Chrome (on a Mac just now and Win7 earlier today when I confirmed the issue) and the pop-up went away every time as expected. Usually, this is a transient bug on Facebook's part either associated with your computer or user. It's usually not something that every users sees.. though, that's been a bug that Facebook's had in the past...

Good luck, and we like to see progress too!

P.S. I forgot, during testing, I disabled the caching in the System->Global Configuration area. I didn't re-enable it, and I downgrade my user to Registered so I can't fix it. Just wanted to let you know.

Ok, did the following:

1) Cleared Chromes cache and then rebooted my computer with a complete power off shutdown. Left it off for an hour while I took the kids to school.
2) Powered on the computer and logged in (Running Windows 7 Ultimate N)
3) Started chrome and tried to log into your website (sourcecoast.com) using facebook. Popup window opened and I was able to enter my facebook user account and password. The popup went white (Blank page, nothing displayed on the page at all) and stayed open. I waited a few minutes, approx., and then closed the window. I was not logged into your site. I repeated several times, still the same issues.
4) I closed Chrome and started IE8. Went to your website and attempted to log in via facebook. Popup window opened and I was able to enter by credentials. The first time I tried IE8 prior to rebooting I got weird errors and could not log in. After the reboot, I was able to log in via IE8, the window opened, I entered my credentials it closed and logged me into the site.
5) I closed IE and attempted to log in via Firefox (V3.6.16). Everything worked fine.

I tried using Firefox on my site, everything worked fine. I think we're looking at a Chrome issue. After logging into my site via Firefox, I attempted to log into my site via Chrome and got the same error. Popup window opens but does not close. Repeating several times still leave the window open and does not log me in. It's a hit or miss it appears as sometimes closing the window after a random period will log me into the site.

I hope this helps.

Steven,
Very sorry for the delay. We just released an updated version of the JomSocial plugin which fixes the import status error mentioned above. Please grab the Profile Plugins zip file and update to the newest JomSocail profile plugin

I'm not sure if this will help some of the pop-up issues, but it's possible. When I try to login via Chrome (either from a Mac or Win7 computer), the pop-up goes away as expected. Please let us know if you're still seeing the issue, and if possible check if it's persistent across multiple Facebook users and on multiple computers.

Thanks, and good luck!

Downloaded the newest release of the social plugins and updated my JomSocial plugin. Still having issues with not being able to log in via facebook when using Chrome, both at my site AND here at your site.

Was getting ready to pull the plug on Chrome and reinstall when I decided to disable all extensions and retry. Viola! I was able to log in via facebook at both sites with the popup window closing automatically.

Turns out, I believe, that it was something to do with the Skype Helper extension that was automagically installed in chrome by Skype. (Stealth software installs really, really, really piss me off).

I think everything working ok now, will let you know otherwise.

Thanks for all your support.

Wow, that sucks, and am sorry that that's been the issue. The Skype extension is terrible, and recently Firefox used it's 'killbit' ability to forcefully disable the add-on in all of their browsers. I thought Chrome had done the same, but I couldn't find any reference to it. The Firefox report is:

As for support, no problem. It's what we do; thank you for subscribing! As always, if you want to go the extra mile, please consider leaving a review on the JED. It's not required, but certainly appreciated:

We certainly hope this is the last of your issues, and good luck with your site!
