Currently i have comments on my website:
www.thebrickman.com

these comments are not per article, but rather repeat across every article, how do i set them so that they only apple to each article? that way users can comment on each thing.

cheers and thanks in advance :) and i am a current subscriber, I just bought and installed yesterday

Right now, for the comments box to be page specific, there are 2 options.
* If you're using the {} tag inserted right in the article, you either need to specify a xid=XXXX, where XXXX is a unique id for the page/article. This is good if there are multiple ways to 'see' an article (blog view, article view, embedded article, etc)
* If you're using the module, leave the "Unique ID" field blank. If it's set, then the same ID is used on every page, which means that every page gets the same comment box.

Ultimately though, we're releasing a content plugin which will let you specify whether a Like box and Comment box should be added to every article displayed. The unique ID will be automatically created and will work in different types of views (blog, article only, etc). That's finished as of today, and we're testing it now. With luck, it will be available tomorrow. With less luck, it will be available this weekend. Hopefully you can wait it out for a few days.

We'll post here to let you know when it's available.

Hmm, I tried adding an xid = "XXXX" to the end of the comments and got the same thing, you can see clealry on the website.

{ JFBCComments xid="84"}

is also tried it without the inverted commas too and no dice.

is the an explanation of the strings needed for the variable somewhere?

rather odd.

Sorry for the troubles. We've found some minor issues with our new content plugin, but are still shooting for a release tomorrow or Friday.

I do see the xid="1" still being set in each of the comments blocks, which means they would all use the same comments. For the comment plugin, we'll be automatically generating a unique id for each, along the lines of "content_84". This should fix your issues, and I'd recommend saving a few hours and just waiting for it, if you can hold your breath for a little longer.

As for documentation of what we currently have, it can be found below. We agree the social widgets could use some more documentation, and it will be a focus area right after the 3.1 release comes out (which is going to require updated documentation for the new features it will have).

Good luck!

No need to apologise, its all good, although i do think we have our wires crossed somewhat, each of the three articles on the front page each have a different comment ID against them, which is what is confusing me, for example: xid = 82 , xid = 84, xid = 81 . I asume i dont have to use the talking marks when setting these, as i tried with and without and it was the same.

ill wait for the module, i look forward to testing it out, but i just hope that its not the site thats at fault.

We released a new JFBCContent plugin yesterday for adding Comments and Like functionality to your site's articles. In addition, we've released a new version of the JFBCSocial plugin as well, which is required for the content plugin to function. Again, we're sorry for the delay. Please download these and let us know if you have any suggestions for improvement going forward. Thanks!

Ok, now downloaded and installed, and its workign in that the comments remain per article which is great and my original issue solved. but its putting the comments area on top of every article instead of being underneath it?

how do i change the location of it?

cheers

If you go into the plugin settings for the JFBCContent plugin, there are parameters for where the Like and Comment button go (top or bottom).

Hope this helps, but if you still can't figure it out (or we made it a little too complicated), let us know!
