Topic-icon We are unable to retrieve your Facebook account information

I installed 3.0.2, followed the guide but everytime I click on connect with facebook, it gives me the message "We are unable te retrieve your FACEBOOK account, try again later."

Everything is set up perfectly in facebook, since the jomsocial one works fine.

I then delete the jomsocial api key and secret to avoid conflicts and enter them into JFBConnect.
The result is as decribed above.

I use Joomla 1.5.20 with Jomsocial 1.8.10.

When I install v 2.5.3 I can connect but am not accepted as user and am therefor not logged in.

What can be the problem?

Can you provide a link for where this is occurring? While rare, when this happens, it's usually a conflict with another extension. That error is produced by JFBConnect whenever we try to get a user's profile information, but nothing is being returned from Facebook.

We'll help you get to the bottom of it.

Thanks for the very quick response.

I found the problem: the User - Jomsocial User was set in second place
I put the JFBConect one at second and now all works fine!!

Great to hear. Should have suggested that sooner.. knew I had heard of that issue before, but couldn't lock it down to a specific "do this".

I was testing something out and deleted my application preferences on facebook.

now the entire system is at the same point.

Cannot retrieve etc.

So you deleted your Facebook application? Once that's done, you'd need to create a new application and get new API/Secret keys for JFBConnect. Any users returning to your site would need to re-approve your Facebook application, but their Joomla account would still be intact, so they wouldn't notice a huge difference.

Please let us know if there's something we're missing. It seems like simply starting over, in a way, will get you back on track.

When I use my wifes facebook then it works

Is there something I should do on the facebook site?

I'm gonna try a reinstall of Joomla, Jomsocial and the plugin, maybe that will solve it somewhere.

When you say you "Deleted your application preferences", can you describe what you did?

The error that you're getting, is this in a notification/error line on the Joomla site or in a Facebook pop-up window? What is the exact text of the error (a screenshot would be great).
