Is there a step by step beginners guide/tutorial that shows the basics of what you do once the JC Login extension has been installed? I just need something to get me started from the beginning then I can come back with questions if I get stuck

Thanks in advance

We don't have great documentation for the SCLogin module yet. All of the settings do have Tooltips, and if you have any questions, we'll gladly help answer them.

Documentation and tutorial videos are being worked on, and we're expecting them to be available by the end of the month.

I hope that helps, and sorry for any confusion you may be having.

Thanks,
Alex

Okay, here goes, so I've installed the extension, what basic process would I need to do to get it to replace the default Joomla one?

I've had no problems setting up my template and adding menu items and some other modules/extensions (like Kunena, Rok Candy etc) so far, but the login thing has got me stumped.

Thanks for the previous prompt response

Sorry for the delayed response.

Generally, the SCLogin module should be an immediate direct replacement for the standard Joomla login module. Basically, install it, set the template position, publish it and mark it to display on all menu items and it should work.

That last point (setting it to display on all menu items) is a stumbling point for many users with Joomla. When a new module is installed, the default is for it to display on "no" menu items. Therefore, even if published and in the right position, it won't appear. Quite annoying, but that's how Joomla defaults things and not something we can change.

If the above doesn't help, can you let us know what is (or isn't) happening? For instance, is the module showing at all? If so, what's missing that you're expecting or not working how you want?

With that info, we should be able to help guide you on configuring things how you want.

Thanks,
Alex

I did what you said and am still having no luck, I'll try to explain some more about what I'm trying to achieve, here goes.

Okay I've put together a site and I've added the Kunena forum to the menu bar. When someone clicks the forum button Kunena appears. At the top of the Kunena window is a menu to login into the forum. If possible I'd like to replace this part with JCLogin module. The reason I want to do this is because at a later stage I would also like to add the social login functionality. Also when someone clicks on 'Forgot your password? Forgot your username? Create an account' I would prefer this to appear in a pop up.

Hope that makes sense, if I can send you the test site address would that help?

Thanks

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this. We just had our big release of JFBConnect and still finalizing some bits from that.

There isn't really an easy way to replace the Kunena login area with a different module. The have a way to show other modules in that section, but it's very limited and seems squished to the right. To my knowledge, there isn't a way to just swap their login area with ours.

With that said, by modifying their template, it'd probably be pretty easily possible, but would take some work. If you're ok with the current login module and just wanted to add the social login buttons (Facebook, Google, LinkedIn), we have documentation for that already:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/thir...tegration-for-kunena

Right now, I'm not sure that replacing with the SCLogin module will do what you're looking for. You mention:

The reason I want to do this is because at a later stage I would also like to add the social login functionality. Also when someone clicks on 'Forgot your password? Forgot your username? Create an account' I would prefer this to appear in a pop up.

The social buttons can be added, as above. The Forgot xyz and Create account links wouldn't show unless you're using the modal view of SCLogin. In that case, the modal would show those links, but clicking them would go to a new page.. they wouldn't have their own popup, if that's what you're looking for.

I hope that helps explain, but if you have any other questions, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hey thanks for your reply, I had another go at trying to get it working.

I managed to get the Login/Register links into my menu bar, however when I click on the login link nothing happens and if I click on the register link it opens the registration page in main window even though I have the login view settings display type set to Modal Popup.

Any ideas what I need to do from here?

Thanks
