Hello,

This is the first time I have used this component but I installed it on a site and it is not displaying the news feeds we have set up. We set up Twitter and LinkedIn but it isn't displaying any of the tweets. The url for the site is: www.synfiny.com/

The news feed is in the footer.

Thanks,
Shaun

Shaun,

Here's a quick overview of how to add posts to the SCSocialStream module:

To access the posts from a Twitter Stream, Facebook Page or Group, or LinkedIn Company Page, you will need an API key for those services, so you'll need to create an application for them. The API key is what's used to authenticate your site for posting to, or reading from, the streams. Make sure you have these configured properly in JFBConnect.

Once you have those, you need to setup the Channel in the admin area and authenticate with the right user on the front end. Full documentation on creating a channel (whether for posting to or reading from) can be found below:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/post...reate-social-channel

After the channel is set up, then select them in the SCSocialStream module.

If you need more help going further, please let us know.

Hello,

I added the channels and the API keys but it still isn't showing up on the site. Is it possible to give the development team a user name and password where they can log in and see if everything is configured right?

Thanks,
Shaun

Sure, just send me a PM with the credentials and either Alex or I will look into it.

After logging into your site, I see that you have not authenticated your channel owner on the front-end for either Twitter or LinkedIn. (In JFBConnect > UserMap, there are no entries and also when you open the LinkedIn channel in the backend, the error message 'The selected user has not authenticated with LinkedIn' shows up).

From the front-end, you will need to log in with your user and then connect to both LinkedIn and Twitter to get the streams to be able to show up. Once you have authenticated with these, please open up the channels in the backend to make sure there are no further errors listed. If there are, please refer to the channel configuration setup guide again to see how to resolve them - www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/post...reate-social-channel.

Thanks
-Melissa

It says to log in on the front end, does that mean front end of the website or into linkedin and twitter? When I log into linkedin and twitter, there isn't any messages that appear that say I can link my accounts. Do I have to create a temp page where I log in on my site and then accept something?

Thanks,
Shaun

You need to login to the front end of your own site using the social network that you're trying to create the channel for. When you authenticate, the social networks ask for various permissions. If you have a channel setup for the user, then there will be additional permission prompts requested as well.

I hope that helps explain,
Alex

I was able to get facebook connected on a test site but this site does not use facebook and I can't get the users connected. Before I was using the "Open Graph Settings" page and it had a facebook button display and from there I can could connect. But now that doesn't show the LinkedIn or Twitter buttons, so I don't know how to get those connected. Connecting the facebook was easy on the dev site but I just want to connect LinkedIn and Twitter and I can't seem to get that. Am I supposed to use a different page to log in and connect them? This is the page I am using now: synfiny.com/index.php?option=com_users&task=details

Thanks,
Shaun

Shaun,
There are multiple ways to show the login buttons. To show them on your Register or Login pages, simply enable the "Integrate with Joomla Login" setting in JFBConnect. If you only want to let a specific user connect for the Channels feature, you can enable that setting briefly and then disable it after the connection and proper permissions have been granted.

If you enable that setting and only the Facebook login button shows, that indicates that JFBConnect thinks the other networks aren't setup properly. Please go to the JFBConnect -> Configuration -> LinkedIn (or other social network tabs) and make sure you've properly entered the API and Secret keys.

I hope that helps, but if not, let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

I feel really dumb about this one. I did not have "Integrate with Joomla Login" turned on. It was set to none still. That fixed the issue and allowed me to get it all connected. Thank you all for your help!

Thanks,
Shaun
