Hi there-
Just installed JFBConnect last night. Gotten through the configuration/set-up. When we enable the JFBC login module (SCLogin), several modules on the home page either disappear or do not work properly:

Module: content mass top
Location: beneath home page main slider
Problem: the daily article/content module is a section of 3 mini stories with thumbnail images abouve them. When the JFBC login module is enabled, this section disappears completely

Module: My Inspiration article module
Location: left module (center of home page)
Problem: when the JFBC login module is enabled, only the title appears ("my inspiration"); the thumbnail and preview text disappears

Module: Latest Styles image slider
Location: left module (center of home page)
Problem: when the JFBC login module is enabled,the images no longer slide; arrows do not work and remains fixed on one image.

Module: mod_sptab - Dual tabbed module that shows Facebook stream and Jomsocail ("MyClique") stream
Location: right module beneath login
Problem: when the JFBC login module is enabled, this module completely disappears

Module: mod_jatwitter --Twitter stream module
Location: right module beneath mod_sptab
Problem: when the JFBC login module is enabled, the stream disappears and all that remains is a blue Twitter bar that looks like it is continually refreshing- (just the rotating arrows)

I disabled the SCLogin module and enabled the module we were using previously (mod_hellome) . Everything went back to normal- except the image slider no longer works properly.

Please help-
Thanks!

Jonathan,
We've never heard of that issue regarding the SCLogin module. Can you see if the problem occurs if you enable it on other pages? If so, please enable it on another page (preferably some obscure page) and let us know the URL so that we can see what is going wrong.

There really isn't much going on within the SCLogin module regarding Javascript or code, so it shouldn't break anything. Do you know if you've modified the SCLogin template file or overridden it in any way?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi there-
I sent a reply via private message last night. Did you receive it?

Jon,
I did get your PM and was just able to look at your site. You have quite a few Javascript errors on the home page. This is somewhat common when a lot of extensions are Javascript heavy, and normally doesn't cause visible issues like you were seeing. However, your template was also compressing and joining all the Javascript together. This was also causing extra Javascript errors, and somewhere in the mix, one of the errors was causing the modules you mention above not to load properly.

I went into your template and set "Optimize JS" to "No". You can try different variants to see if some optimization works, but for now, that seems to fix the problem.

Hope that helps, but if you need anything else, just let us know!

Hi again-
Thanks for the quick assistance. We're still new to the FB canvas and page tab feature/process. Followed the configuration steps and am a little confused. I thought the page tab was supposed to take users to a landing page and after they like the page it would go to our chosen url - our site home page- in a condensed screen. The canvas on the other hand, displays the full screen wrapped in FB.

My question: if the page tab (once revealed) displays your wrapped url in a condensed screen, is it possible to redirect users to the canvas after the reveal instead of going to the condensed page tab?

Thanks-
Chanda (the other half of the Dynamic Duo :D )

Chanda,
The Page Tab is shown in a 'Condensed' view of 520px (old style) or 810px (new Timeline style). Unfortunately, the default is still set at 520px, and that's not a value we can automatically set through Autotune, or we would default it to 810, since that's what everyone would want.

If your site is larger than 810px (common), you can use the Page Tab Template option of JFBConnect to select a new template that is slimmer. That's not always easy, but it's an option.

As for redirecting to the Canvas, that's not an option in JFBConnect, but not a bad idea. It'd honestly be pretty easy to implement the redirect if you'd like us to help. Technically, you could redirect to your actual site URL instead of your Canvas, but I'd highly recommend not doing that. If Facebook catches you redirecting all users that Like your Page to your site, that could be a violation of their Terms of Service, considered spam, or some other 'bad' thing, and I wouldn't recommend getting on their bad side.

If you want to setup the redirect to your Canvas, just let me know, and we can help (may take a day or two to get an answer).

Redirecting to the canvas sounds awesome! Just let me know what we need to do on our end and when to do it!

In other news, we ran into a few other minor bumps:
Does the component not auto-log in the users if they log out on their last visit? When I don't log out and just close the window and open the site page later, I'm automatically logged in. But when I log out and open the site page again later, I am not automatically logged in on my next visit to the site- but my login info is populated in the user/password fields.
The "login with facebook" button is not showing on our Jomsocial login page-- mysalonstyle.com/My-Clique.html . We read the documentation; can't seem to add to correctly.
Lastly, with Jomsocial, we got notifications when new users registered. It appears that we still get notifications when users register regularly, but get no notification for the users that register thru facebook. Not a major problem, just wondering of there was a setting for this.

Can you please take a look? Same user name and password available for you.

Thanks Obi One!

Chanda,
There's currently a bug with Facebook right now where on some sites the buttons aren't showing. Please see the thread below for more information:
www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...ok-issues?p=1#p22308

For the auto-login, it depends on a couple of things. If the user logs out *and* you have the "Logout of Joomla Only" setting disabled (No), then when the user logs out, you'll also be logging them out of Facebook. In that case, they will need to re-login to Facebook.

There is another issue we're investigating where logging out of the site and returning *soon* (within the session timeout setting of your Joomla Global Config) that auto-login won't work. In this specific case, auto-login may not work. Simply closing the window on most browsers will not clear your cookies, which means the Joomla session is still open, and JFBConnect tries to prevent automatically logging users back in who have chosen to logout. Otherwise, that would frustrate users as well.

Finally, regarding JomSocial notifications.. what kind of notifications where they? Email or on-site? Do you have a special plugin/extension to send these notifcations, or was this a part of JomSocial?

Thanks,
Alex

Hi there-

Thanks for the info. Not sure if the login button issue for us is a bug or if we didn't follow the directions right...:) From what you can see, does it appear that we did not configure it correctly or does it look like more of a bug thing? As for the notifications for new users, it's a simple email ..."joe schmo just registered on your site". I believe the notification option is thru Joomla and not the Jomsocial component.

Thanks again!

Chanda,
Login Button
I'm not seeing the Login with Facebook button on the JomSocial home page, like you mention. Did you follow the directions on the page below?
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/thir...ration-for-jomsocial

New User Notifications
For the emails, thanks for the clarification. Yes, those emails should still be sent just like normal. JFBConnect has it's own method for sending those emails, because the users we create may not have a password, or you may want to override the New User email for Facebook users vs those who register 'normally'. However, those emails should go out the same as the Joomla ones.

Can you go into the Global Configuration area of Joomla and under the "Server" section, tell me what your "Mailer" is. We use "PHP Mail Function", but all options should work, I believe. Feel free to test and let us know if any setting there changes how it works.

Canvas Redirection from Page Tab
You'll need to make the following edit to one of our files. Please open the /components/com_jfbconnect/libraries/canvas.php file. Around line 161, you'll see:
else
        {
            $tabTemplate = $this->configModel->getSetting('canvas_tab_template');
            $this->setTemplate($tabTemplate);
        }
Change that to:
else
        {
                $app->redirect('https://apps.facebook.com/YOUR_CANVASURL');
        }
Obviously test that code. I didn't.. but it's pretty simple.. and should just work :)

Good luck,
Alex
