Hi
Not sure what I have done. Had absolutely no problems at all logging in using Google or Facebook until this week, Now I get time outs. Also in the configuration I get a time out and check the app id and secret word which are both correct.

Seems to have happened all at once which leads me to think I have changed something, but I have looked at all the settings and nothing is working?

The site is www.pubreviews.org I can PM you the admin details if needed?

Many thanks Paul

Have you updating any other extensions on your site lately, like EasySocial, JomSocial, etc?

Can you try:
1. Turning off any our Social Profiles plugins that are importing profile data
2. Contacting your host to up the timeout to 30s, which is pretty standard.
3. Disabling other system, user and authentication plugins and re-enabling one at a time to try to narrow down if any thing else is causing a slowdown.

Also in the configuration I get a time out

This sounds like your server is having connectivity issues with outgoing requests. Which configuration pages are you seeing this on?

Hi

I have switched off any other authentication that I can find. It seems to connect to facebook to bring back like info etc but just times out on the login. Also in the JFBConnect Autotune on Basic Information Setup, it cannot connect to facebook from there so prevents me going to next step.

I did have community builder on it a while ago but removed it. I do have a site on the same server that can connect without problems. I have matched the settings so they are the same as that but still no joy! :(

Can you enable Debugging Mode in JFBConnect > Configuration > General and let us know any errors that you are getting?

Especially, what messages/errors/etc are you seeing when the following happens?

Also in the JFBConnect Autotune on Basic Information Setup, it cannot connect to facebook from there so prevents me going to next step.

Hi. Sorry I have been working away for a while. I put on debug mode on the autotune but the only thing I still get is the following message. I have checked and repasted the facebook ID. (The problem also prevents me logging in via google, so im sure it isn't from their side)

Error
Facebook API Error: Connection timed out after 10001 milliseconds

Facebook Application configuration could not be loaded. Please check your App ID and Secret Key

its strange as I had these working perfectly for ages.

cheers

Paul,
What you describe sounds more like a server mis-configuration issue. It's very possible your hosting company updated some software or tweaked some settings that impacted your server.

If you're getting connection issues (timeouts, incorrect data, etc) from multiple networks, there's a few possible causes of this:
* A firewall on the server is blocking outgoing connections
* The timeout to receive data from the external sites has been changed. Above, the timeout is shown as 10s, which should be more than enough to get data from Facebook. However, 30 seconds is what we recommend to prevent any possible issues.

I'd contact your host and ensure that your server is able to make outgoing connections using cURL over PHP to the following site:
https://graph.facebook.com/
If not, for some reason, that will need to be fixed.

I hope that helps,
Alex
