Topic-icon Import Mobile number during registration via facebook/linkedin

Hi,

I'm currently using EasySocial and have a 6 months membership. I'm planning to use your component and have it integrated with EasySocial but need to confirm first if it is already done or can be done.

I see that facebook/linkedin doesn't allow importing of fields such as mobile number. So, is there a way for the user to enter such a field during the registration process? Preferably on the same page where the user is asked to enter a chosen password.

Kindly treat this as urgent.

regards,
James.

James,

In case you did not receive it, here is Alex's email reply yesterday to your Contact Us submission regarding the same issue:

With JFBConnect, you can configure the registration process so that the user is redirected to the standard EasySocial registration flow. Any profile fields that are imported from Facebook can be pre-filled or even hidden altogether to make the registration flow easier for users that signup using a social network.

There are other options for registration as well where you can take them to the JFBConnect registration page and just show fields that aren't imported from the social networks. This is a very short, quick page to use. Once the user fills out the missing fields and registers, they can be automatically logged in and redirected back tot he page they came from.

In general, you should be able to do what you're looking for, but you'll have to play with a few options to get things going how you want.

Thank you.

I didn't get any mail. Weird. I checked the spam folder too.

Anyways, Do you have a demo where i can check and see the other options for registration where the users are taken to the JFBConnect registration page to complete the fields that aren't imported from the social networks. And Yes, redirect to the page where they started after filling the incomplete form.

regards
James.

For your email, we got a server denied. Looking at the email address you put, [email protected] , I'm pretty sure you mis-typed the domain name. We did respond though :)

We don't have an demo site where you can see the admin area. It's something we're always meaning to work on, but just haven't done it yet. We have a 30-day money back guarantee, so we always recommend that the best way to test things out and see if it will work for you is to use it on your own dev site. It's the best way to really know if JFBConnect is right for you.

I hope that helps,
Alex

My bad!! I'm sorry for the typo.

Since there's no demo and i'm a little paranoid, can you at least give a brief instruction as to how the fields which are not imported from facebook are shown? Like Mobile Number which is a compulsory field in EasySocial. I simply want a field where the users are asked to enter their mobile number since this is something which isn't imported by default.

I want to be absolutely sure that this is something possible.

James,

On my test site, I set up the following settings:

1. Turn on 'Social Profiles - EasySocial' in the Plugin Manager
2. Go into JFBConnect > Configuration > General tab and set Registration Component to EasySocial
3. Go into JFBConnect > Profiles > EasySocial tab and set 'Show Imported Fields' to Yes, Always Import Profile Data, Avatar, Cover
4. Map appropriate fields from the Social Network to the EasySocial fields.

When you hit the Facebook button for instance, you will then be redirected to the EasySocial registration with all of the profile data filled in:

File Attachment:

You can see that Profile Blurb, About Me, Website, Email are filled in (some of the fields that I mapped). For fields that were not imported and marked as required, the user is forced to fill them in before finishing the registration - as shown by the popup in the screenshot since I didn't fill in one of these fields. Since you don't want to see all of the pre-filled profile fields, then set the 'Show Imported Fields' option in step 3 to No. In my example, I wanted them on so that you see they are imported correctly.

I think this demonstrates what you are looking for, but please feel free to ask for more clarification.

Hi Mel,

I was travelling and couldn't get back to you sooner. Thanks for the detailed instructions. Really appreciate the effort :)

I'm back with my team and need this component of yours urgently. However, need a quick question which i feel should be fairly easy. When users use social network to login and is taken to the EasySocial registration page, they are shown the first user registration page with name, email, mobile, etc followed by the easysocial custom registration page and lastly their profile picture and cover photo.

Now, I want to add a small change where the users while signing up can choose the following right after choosing their profile picture and cover photo and before the success message is shown:
1. Ask them to join EasySocial groups,
2. Add/Follow a few friends who are already active on my website
3. Send invite to social media friends

And on successfully completing this process, they are sent to the original page they signup from.

Thanks and looking forward to your message, hopefully positive :)

It sounds like you're wanting to alter the EasySocial registration flow, not JFBConnect. We can't help you with that. We'd recommend you contact the guys over at StackIdeas who can hopefully help you with what you're looking to do. Some of the things you're looking for are social network related (like inviting friends), but if you want to insert that into the registration flow, that needs to be done within EasySocial.

I hope that helps explain a little more, but if you need assistance, just let us know.

Also, I see you still don't have a subscription for JFBConnect yet. We hope you'll choose to subscribe soon.

Thanks,
Alex
