Topic-icon K2 Comments cannot be crawled by Facebook's servers

Hi,
Under the K2 Comments I see a yellow box with this text (I changed the site name for privacy here):

Warning: mydomain.com/component/k2/item/100-test120 cannot be crawled by Facebook's servers.

What is this and how do I fix it?
If it means anything, I am currently developing my site offline and working with an SSL Certificate.
Thanks!

This basically means that Facebook has not scanned your page and does not trust it yet. When you bring it online, you will start to see the message go away. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about that warning while it is offline, but it's a normal message until it is online.

Hi Mel,
I posted a comment while logged into one of my facebook pages.
The comment posted on my site and on facebook.
However, the other pages on my site still show the message - cannot be crawled by Facebook's servers.
Do I have to post a comment on every page (K2 item) in order for Facebook to see each?
How long or how many posts does it take normally take for facebook to recognize my entire site?
Plus, I noticed that a facebook icon was placed next to the link on facebook.
How can I get this to be either my logo or a K2 item image?

Thanks!

Facebook can crawl your page depending on your traffic. Since your site was just brought online and probably does not have as much traffic, it may take awhile (on the order of weeks).

Do I have to post a comment on every page (K2 item) in order for Facebook to see each?

For pages that you want to test, I'd recommend using the Facebook Open Graph Debugger at developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ to debug and then re-scrape your pages manually. You can also use our webpage socialdebug.com to do the same. You should not have to post a comment though.

Plus, I noticed that a facebook icon was placed next to the link on facebook.
How can I get this to be either my logo or a K2 item image?

This probably means that there is not an og:image tag on the page, so Facebook is attempting to determine the best image and picks one for you. You can verify whether there is an og:image by looking at the page source or using the Open Graph Debugger or Social Debug sites that I listed above.

If there is no tag, you can 1) enable our 'Open Graph - K2' plugin 2) Set an default image in the JFBConnect > Open Graph > Configuration area or 3) Manually add an SCOpenGraph Easy-Tag to your item content.

I hope this helps clarify, but please let us know if you continue to have troubles going forward.

Thanks Mel!
One more question.
How do I limit the amount of comments that are visible on my site? Can pagination or read more comments be added?

Unfortunately, the only parameter that Facebook provides is a num_posts field which is the number of comments to show by default. We have no control over pagination or any read-more options.

If you're using the JFBCContent plugin to add comment boxes to your site, go to JFBConnect > Social > Content Plugin - K2 Comments and set the 'Number of Comments' field appropriately. If you're adding the comment boxes a different way (SCSocialWidget module or Easy-tag) there should be a corresponding option in those too.
