This is a general question regarding this extension. As I go through the many features the one I am not seeing is an automatic post to the social channels for new content. Specifically a K2 items. Perhaps I have missed this but since we are setting up channels it would seem simple to post the item when it is published.

This is easy in WP and can be done in other ways in Joomla but it seems all the pieces are here so maybe I am missing something.

Thanks

JFBConnect doesn't currently support auto-posting. We only allow you to create Channels that can be manually posted by using the "Create Post" button in the social toolbar. We're planning an auto-posting ability with an upcoming release, but even then, we'd still recommend the manual posting way because:
* You can add your own comment to go along with the post and give it some context
* You can time the post according to your audience
* You're guaranteed the URL will be correct
* The current feature works with any page on your site, regardless of component that created it.

Auto-posting has multiple issues that we'll try to work around, but will never be fool-proof, like:
* There's no additional message/update to go along with each message, so it would just be a simple link post, which has much less authority and won't show up as prominently in user feeds.
* Joomla has many URLs for each page on a site. Determining the proper one to post isn't always possible.
* Simply using the toggle from unpublished to published can cause accidental multiple posts
* There would be support for only limited components for auto-posting, though K2 will likely be on.

Again though, it is planned, but is a difficult task to get right, so we don't have a specific timeline on when it will be available.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the reply Alex. I think the social toolbar will take care of it for now. In reality I did not see this popping up on the staging/dev server. I went over to the offline production sever and the toolbar was there. I had set up only one social for testing (twitter) and it went through the process but stated that it failed. Not sure of the issue is. The site is not live but we can test the production server after a push from the staging server. What are the conditions needed for this to work so we can test.

Thanks

Can you try to log out of your front-end and then re-log in with Twitter? There might be an additional prompt asking if your site can post to Twitter on your behalf. You need to grant this permission for JFBConnect to post.
