Does this article pertain to doing the same thing for joomla 3 and jomsocial 3? I would like the send and like for facebook on each post.

That code was for adding the Like & Share buttons to things in the feed. However, JomSocial and Facebook have changes, so the code may likely be different.

However, before you even go down that route, please note that Facebook keeps track of Like's and Share's based on a specific URL on your site. Since each post to the JomSocial feed doesn't usually have a unique URL associated with it, the Like buttons will need a URL specified to Like which may be unrelated to the actual feed entry. For example, if a user creates a status update, there's no URL you can use for that specific status update. Therefore, you can make the Like button before the actual user that posted the update.. however, in that case, a viewer would be Like'ing the poster themselves *and* if that poster creates another status update, it will already have a Like count associated with it (whatever the count of his own profile is).

I hope that makes sense. In general, we don't recommend trying to add sharing buttons to feed post entries because they usually don't make sense.

I can understand that. How does the syncing from Facebook to Jomsocial work? When I make a post on Facebook it comes over to the site and vice versa. Will it do that for all members? I dont want every members facebook post to come to the site, but I do want every members post on my site to go to facebook. I like the option I see in the attached photo for the user to have the option. Does this work in Jomsocial? Also, when a post is made from the site and goes to a facebook post, is there anyway to get the likes and comments to sync to and from each other so they match?

Glad I could help explain the sharing features. Hopefully the answers below help clarify your other questions as well.

When I make a post on Facebook it comes over to the site and vice versa. Will it do that for all members?

Yes. There is a setting in the JFBConnect -> Profiles -> JomSocial area where you can configure whether posts are automatically pushed to and pulled from Facebook. A couple of notes to go with that:
* If the post is marked as any non-public privacy level in JomSocial, JFBConnect will not push it to Facebook. Only public posts will be pushed to Facebook.
* The user has to have approved the additional "Allow this site to post on my behalf" prompt when they authenticated with Facebook in order for JFBConnect to push their posts. They can remove that permission at any time as well.

I dont want every members facebook post to come to the site, but I do want every members post on my site to go to facebook.

You can easily configure that in the Profiles area.

I like the option I see in the attached photo for the user to have the option. Does this work in Jomsocial?

The picture you show is the Facebook Comments box. That can be added to your content automatically from the JFBConnect -> Social area. Additionally, you can add the Comment box using the SC Social Widget module. Unfortunately, the features of the comment box are out of our control. The "Post to Facebook" box is a feature of the Comment box only.

Also, when a post is made from the site and goes to a facebook post, is there anyway to get the likes and comments to sync to and from each other so they match?

No, there's no way to do this. Facebook doesn't have a way to sync comments from users across sites due to various technical and privacy reasons.

I hope that helps answer your questions,
Alex
