Topic-icon Critical bug/issue: My Facebook login suddenly connected to wrong acc

Hey guys. My Facebook login now is logging me in on another account, than mine. (I do own the other account, and have logged into the other account while on FB, but it doesn't use same e-mail and I never connected it to fb).

Basically my main account is Jannik Laursen, but I also have a testing account called Mr Comet, which I created for the comet chat guys to debug stuff. For some odd reason now my Facebook connects to this new account I made, rather than my actual account. This is a real concern.

I ended up having to delete my "Mr Comet" account (aka my dummy/test account which suddenly took over my facebook login).

Does the automatically connect based on email connect to accounts with a different email, if there are none with the same email present? or what could have caused it to connect automatically to this other account, despite there already being a working connection?

The only time a connection is made between a Joomla user and a social network account is:
1) A user is logging in with a social network for the first time and JFBConnect detects that the social network email is the same as an existing Joomla user *that isn't already mapped to that social network*. So this shouldn't be your case, since it sounds like your Joomla account was already mapped to Facebook.
2) A new social network user logs in and chooses the "Login" side of the registration form to connect to an existing account - When Automatic Registration is disabled.
3) When already logged in to Joomla, the user clicks the "Facebook" login button. If you are logged into a different Facebook account, JFBConnect will update your mapping.

Please note that #3 can happen unexpectedly if you open your site in tab (a) and then open your site in tab (b). In (b) you login. Now, you navigate back to tab (a) where it still shows you *not* logged in (even though you actually are logged in) and click the "Facebook" button. This will authenticate through Facebook and see that you are already logged in (since you did so in (b)) and update your mapping to this new Facebook account.

I hope that helps explain. The only time we've heard of incorrect mappings like you mention is while users are testing the site in not normal ways with multiple Joomla users and Facebook accounts. The mappings can get updated if things like my note above happens.

Thanks,
Alex

Yeah might have been #3 but with the multiple tabs (as I hide the login button for logged in users). Maybe you should consider adding a confirmation on remap... as in if it already is mapped to one account, have it ask for approval to change the associated account.

In the 6.3 version (due out late this year), we have plans to implement an easy-to-use front-end way for users to manage any connections they've made to social networks (or make new ones). At that time, we may add something like you mention above as we'll be evaluating a lot of different scenarios and usability features within JFBConnect. If it doesn't make it in that release, you're of course free to comment on what we've done and suggest further improvements.

Thanks for the feedback,
Alex

Thanks for the feedback. We're always looking to add new features and smooth out any rough areas, like you noted. Of course, if you have any feedback or suggestions on things we may not be thinking about, please let us know!

Thanks,
Alex
