Hi.
I've been trying to figure this out, but am at a dead-end.
When users choose to register their EasySocial account using Facebook, Google, etc, is there a way that even though JFBConnect preselects their username as FIRLAS, that the user can have the chance to change this to something else? Before using JFBConnect, I was using the built in ES Facebook integration, and that allowed the user to override the username it had selected.
Cheers
Dave

Dave,
If you disable the "Enable Automatic Registration" setting in JFBConnect, the user can go through a more normal registration process. If you have the "Registration Component" set to EasySocial, they'll go through the standard EasySocial registration flow, including being able to pick their profile type (if you have multiple).

The nice thing is that you can choose to have the fields hidden during registration that have data imported into them. That allows for the registration process to be minimized by not showing as many fields, but still letting the user have full control over the registration process.

I hope that helps explain, but if not, or you have any other questions, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex.
OK, I can see how that works now. However, perhaps something you might want to consider for a future release is having the best of both worlds. As you mentioned, we can allow the users to go through the normal registration process, but on some sites, like mine, a lot of the fields we define cannot be covered by social networks (or in some cases, FB is being ultra restrictive these days).
What I'd like to see is pretty much what's already there, but allow JFBC to give the opportunity to the site owner to allow ES "quick registration" on a selected profile, allow it to fill out the username with the default method chosen (e.g. FIRLAS), but then present this to the user signing up to give them the opportunity to change it before proceeding with the usual Quick Registration offered by ES.

In that case, I'd recommend changing the "Registration Component" to JFBConnect. You'll be able to do what you're looking for there. The user will be redirected to a new 'registration' page, which you have control over the fields that are showing from the "Normal Registration" options configuration area in JFBConnect. Their profile information will still be imported automatically into EasySocial.

With those settings, you can choose to only show a pre-generated username (which can be overwritten) and hide all other details. It's a good way to let users have control over their username, password or email if you want.

You also can choose to show a login form on that page, which a user can use to login to an already existing Joomla account, if they have one. That way, if they already have an account, they can log into it and have their social network account associated with it.

I hope that helps some more, but if you have any other questions on customizations, let me know.
