Topic-icon Facebook Share buttons not working as before ?

Hi,

I run a forum and share posts to Facebook where people also follow the forum, but only since the past couple of days the Facebook share buttons do not generate the link to the thread that I am wanting to share with people, all that it does is share the speakershack.co.uk link which is not what I use them for!

Could someone who knows more than me help and tell me what has gone wrong, as I do not think I have done anything to change it !?!

Many thanks

Giancarlo

If I run your page through the Facebook URL Debug tool , it's not reporting the correct information for your page.

We had another user report this recently. To fix it, they went to the Joomla -> Global Configuration area and set "Gzip Compression" to "No". For some reason, the Joomla gzip compression can seem to cause issues with Facebook scraping the tags off some sites.

Please try disabling that and running the page through the debugger again to see if the tags are properly read.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the reply, I have disabled the GZIP in Joomla and it is now working in some, but there is one particular post that would not show, putting through the debugging tool took care of that though, so not a big deal, I will see how it goes now, thanks :)

Glad to hear that helped.

It will take Facebook a few days to automatically re-scan all of your pages to see the right tags. When you run a page through the Debug Tool or through our Social Debug tool, your tags will be automatically refreshed and updated in Facebook as well.

I hope that helps,
Alex
