Hello,

I am a new user of both Facebook and JFBConnect. Most of my intro has been easy enough (auto-login, auto-posting, apps, etc) but I cannot find a way to do the following:

I would like to use FB comments on my website, but use the same comment block that the article promotion on FB uses. In other words, merge the comment blocks from both the website and it's relevant article promo on Facebook. Is this possible?

Just to be sure:
(1) I publish an article on my website at it's own unique url.
(2) I Promo it on Twitter and FB using the JFBConnect toolbar, (it works great!)
(3) I would like to add a comment block that points to the one FB just created after I promo'ed it....how do I do this please?

Also, if I use a simple tag like {JFBCComments} at the end of one of my articles, where is the comment text persisted? Locally in the database or at FB?

Lastly, only I as SuperUser can post in the FB comment box, how do I let Registered users (I mean people who have logged in with FB) do so?

Thanks

Comments on Facebook and your site
There isn't any way to 'merge' the comments from an article on your site and your Facebook Page. Your Facebook Page has a intro text section (your comment), the link to your article, and the preview that's generated by JFBConnect.

If a user responds on your Facebook Page, they could be responding to your comment about the page, and not the page's content itself. A comment box on your site will always be implied to be about the article that is shown.

Facebook doesn't let you merge the two because there is a very different context between the two.

I know that may be a little confusing, but hopefully it makes sense.

Also, if I use a simple tag like {JFBCComments} at the end of one of my articles, where is the comment text persisted? Locally in the database or at FB?

Comments are stored with Facebook itself. They are all associated with the current URL in the address bar, or whatever JFBConnect generates as the best URL for the page, since Joomla can have multiple URLs lead to the same content.

Lastly, only I as SuperUser can post in the FB comment box, how do I let Registered users (I mean people who have logged in with FB) do so?

I'm not sure what you mean here. The Facebook Comments box should show to all users and any user who is logged into Facebook.com should be able to post in it. What happens when you are not logged into Facebook or logged in with a different Facebook account? Does the box not show, is there an error message, etc?

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks, that explanation makes sense to me.

Regarding Registered users not being able to post...it was a misconfig on my part.

Thanks again.

I'm glad to hear we could help explain things for you. If you need anything else, just let us know.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:

Thanks,
