Hi

I am wondering if its possible to use JFBConnect's Objects, Actions and Triggers to create a workflow which emulates what IFTTT.com does.

I've tried IFTTT but I have to use Wordpress as a workaround. Would it be possible to use JFBConnect to post an article on Joomla when I post a new link on Facebook?

The new release of JFBConnect v6.1 has a social stream ability, which lets you display the feed from your Facebook Page (or Group) on your site. You can see that at the bottom of this page.

We don't have the ability to monitor your Facebook Page to 'do' something like create a whole new article though. It's an interesting idea, but not sure when (or if) we'd implement something like that. It would take a lot of investigation and multiple ways to integrate with other extensions to 'trigger' the proper behavior after the 'action' has taken place.

I hope that helps explain a little more, but if you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Oh. That actually might work for now. Thanks.

I see it work with Wordpress. xbitasia.wordpress.com is tied to a recipe with IFTTT.com to watch for a new post with a hashtag. I've configured to watch for #xbitasia and it would post to wordpress after a short while. Probably a CRON job to run all the recipes and check for instances.

But it is pretty awesome, because, then you post once and it will flush everywhere else.

I thought this might be a nice feature which JFBConnect could have as well.

Thanks Alex. Prompt as always.

Adrian,
Thanks for the explanation on how you use IFTTT. We actually looked into that service a while back because there's no good Joomla integration with them, and they've noted on their page for years that "Joomla is coming" or "Contact us for Joomla support". It's been in the back of our head that a good hook system into it would be nice, but we don't have time to develop something specifically for IFTTT.

The idea of something for simple monitoring of some social network feeds to do 'something' does sound neat though. Again, that's no guarantee that we'll be developing that for JFBConnect, but it's something I could see investigating further in the future.

As always, if you have any questions, suggestions or feedback, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
