Hi Alex,
I'd like to solve this issue in my site, every time i update JFBConnect to a new version, all facebook users comments in documents disappear, there are any way to recover all those old comments?

please Check this link: www.solterascristianas.com/index.php/hom...on-de-crucero-gratis and check that there are only recent comments and if you install the new JFBConnect version 6.1 thoses recents comments will disappear, I have not update to 6.1 version because i want to solve this before, i installed already the 6.1 version in other test site, and can not get connect to facebook, after login nothing happen. Can you help me to install the new version in order to check the issue?

Romulo,
There's nothing in JFBConnect that should cause you to lose comments. The comments are completely based off the URL of the page where you have the comment box. JFBConnect does try to guess the 'best' URL for that page, in case there are multiple ways to reach the page.. which can happen with Joomla, where multiple URLs will lead to the same page.

With 6.1, we actually added a new parameter to force the 'scheme' of all URLs JFBConnect generates to always be http:// or https://, which eliminates a common issue where comments are split between multiple URLs.

As an example of multiple URLs, the page you posted was:

www.solterascristianas.com/index.php/hom...on-de-crucero-gratis

The URL that JFBConnect generated was:

www.solterascristianas.com/index.php/hom...n-las-redes-sociales

Those are different URLs, but they both show the same content. JFBConnect has no way of knowing which is the 'best' URL to use for that page, but it should be consistent about the URL it chooses.

I hope that helps explain, but should you have any other questions or comments, just let me know. We'll gladly help investigate however we can.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Thank you for the explanation, but i am not clear in something, if after install the JFBConnect for the first time the url always has been the one generated by JFBConnect, in this case, www.solterascristianas.com/index.php/hom...n-las-redes-sociales then i think oldest comments could be present, or every new JFBCconnect install, chage the url?

The other question, so you say in 6.1 this issue is solved?

Best Regards

JFBConnect should not be changing the URL at all for your comments. We rarely touch the logic that generates the URLs, and always try to make sure it's backward compatible (the same URL is always generated).

What I would recommend is:
* Take note of the comment URL *from the HTML* of a page you think may be changing. It may be different than the one in the address bar. On the page you linked to above, it *is* the same as the address in the URL bar:

www.solterascristianas.com/index.php/hom...n-las-redes-sociales

* Backup your site. Then you can revert to the original in case the comments URL is different.
* Install the new JFBConnect
* Check the comment URL in the HTML again to make sure it's the same.

The comments shouldn't change as long as the URL hasn't changed. If the URL changes, please let us know the difference in the URLs from the HTML and we can investigate further.

The other question, so you say in 6.1 this issue is solved?

Again, this isn't an issue we've heard of before. The 6.1 release has no changes to the URL generation, so nothing should have changed.

I hope that helps explain,
Alex
