10 word limit on OG:Description

The default *should* be 50 words in the latest releases. I know previously we used something smaller (likely 10, like you mention).

Can you let me know what version of JFBConnect you're not using? The latest is v6.0.6. If you're on that release, please make sure you've enabled the Open Graph - Content plugin, which should have some better defaults for your Joomla content.

Glad to hear that helped. The new 50 word limit is the default for all articles. If you want to have more control, you'd need to go to the Open Graph configuration area and create a new "Object". In the Object settings, you can choose a category to apply the settings to and in there, you can choose a meta description of 50 characters or 100 words or even a fixed description for every article in the category.
