Hi,

Joomla 3.3.0 | JS 3.2.0.4 | JFBConnect 6.0.6

After upgrading to JFBConnect for some reason the activation links are not being included in any emails to new users upon registration. Only a username and password are being sent. User Manager -> Options -> Activation = Self is turned on. I am not sure why this is happening.

Would someone please take a look (or post exactly what settings/plugins need to be turned on/off as I am going out of my mind trying to solve this issue!

Any help is appreciated.

I've tried all kinds of different settings combinations without any success. Can someone please take a look as to why my jfbconnect integration is not sending these activation links?

Can you go to the JFBConnect -> Configuration area and see if the "Skip Joomla Activation" setting is enabled? If so, that would be why there is no activation email sent, and simply a welcome email.. the user is already activated.

If that doesn't help, please try:
1) Going to the User Manager after a new registration and see if the user has been activated. If so, that means something is activating them. If the user is not activated, it could easily be a JFBConnect issue, and we'll have to investigate further.
2) If you have any Social Profile plugins enabled, please go to the JFBConnect -> Profiles configuration area. Some profile plugin settings also have the ability to skip user-activation (like CB). Check if you have skipping activation enabled in any of those plugins.

I hope that helps get you going.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

The setting was disabled. Let's be clear on the issue at hand: The email IS being sent, however the activation link IS NOT being included in the email. It's being left off completely. The username and password is being sent correctly though, it is just the activation link which is not being included anymore. This started occurring after upgrade to JS 3.2.0.3 (currently at 3.2.0.5) and JFBC 6.0.4 (currently at 6.0.6)

1) Users are NOT currently being activated automatically in User Manager
2) There are no options under the jomsocial profile tab in the Profiles configuration area to select whether or not to skip activation.

I've attempted to disable many extensions to see if this will help but no success so far. I've attached two images for reference - a before upgrade and after upgrade.

I've also sent you a pm with admin credentials.

That email is being generated by JomSocial itself. I just tested with JomSocial 3.2.0.3 and the activation link is properly coming through using Joomla 3.3.0 and JFBConnect v6.0.6.

We'll try to do more testing with the latest release of JomSocial, but I'm unsure what would have changed there. I know they had a recent release due to some bug with Joomla 3.3.0 authentication issues, it's possible that's not properly reading the status of the user's activation field anymore.

Again, we'll look and let you know what we find, but it may not be for a day or so. If you can, I'd recommend trying to revert to JomSocial 3.2.0.3 to see if that fixes the problem. It will also help narrow down the cause.

Thanks,
Alex

I found the issue. It's the System - JomSocial Redirect plugin. I've notified JS about it already. When enabled, whether or not the override com_user registration is set, is what is causing the activation links to be omitted in the emails.

This was working fine prior to the J 3.3.0 & JS 3.2.0.5 upgrades but I don't know why it isn't anymore. Hopefully they can figure it out.

I swear I just lost a good bit of my hair trying to isolate this ...

I'm very glad to hear you found the underlying cause. I'm not sure what's going on there, but definitely let us know what you hear back.

Great sleuthing and good luck!
