I have setup JFBConnect on the latest Joomla 3.2.3 with EasySocial 1.2.8 (latest versions).

I am wanting users to see the fields that JFBConnect is importing from FB and also allow users to see additional required EasySocial custom fields.

I believe I have all settings correct set, but the user gets registered and logged in without any further confirmation of fields.

Please see screenshots for my settings.

Many thanks.

Please make sure you have the "Enable Automatic Registration" setting turned Off and the "Registration Component" set to "EasySocial". Both of those settings are in the JFBConnect -> Configuration area.

Hopefully that will get you going, but if not, let us know. If you have Auto-registration disabled, there should definitely be some sort of registration process *unless* the user registering already has a Joomla account on your site with the same email address... in that case, their accounts may be automatically linked together, depending on your other config settings.

Thanks Alex, but that's definitely the settings I have (please see the attachments in my initial post), but it doesn't seem to be working as expected. Users bypass any confirmation of fields and get logged straight in.

There were no attachments in your original post. If you upload a file, please make sure you click the green arrow next to the images you want to insert into the post.

I just tried to go to your site to test, but it's in Offline Mode right now, so I can't see what's happening. Just to note, if you are logged into the front-end already (like to bypass the Offline Mode page), and then click the "Connect this account" link for Facebook, that *will* just leave you logged in without any registration page. In that case, you already have a Joomla account and are just connecting a Facebook account to it.

I hope that helps explain, but again, keep me posted on what you find.

Thanks,
Alex

Sorry about that, I hadn't noticed that green arrow. Screenshots now showing in first post.

We have been testing with the site in Online Mode (with nobody logged in) and only switched back to Offline Mode when we have finished (we are keeping a low profile until we launch).

I'll forward access details in a PM so that you can have a look.

When you do, if you visit the homepage (with the site online) on an iPhone, there's a strange overlay of three buttons that has appeared since installing JFBC. They are "Social Media Tags", "Create Post" and "X" (which closes the panel). If you click "Social Media Tags" you see a load of text hidden behind the website page elements, with prefixes such as og:title, og:description, fb:app_id (then a Facebook ID) etc. Do you know what is causing this?

Many thanks for you help.

In your first post, Automatic Registration is set to "Yes". It's the very first setting and is in Red. Please set to that "No", which is Green (for the default value). We understand the coloring is misleading, and will be fixing that in the next release.

As for the social toolbar, that's from JFBConnect. It only shows to super administrators on the site (by default, though you can have set which groups want to see it.. like managers). The Social Meta Tags buttons should show all of the Open Graph tags that have been set on your page by JFBConnect, which is helpful for debugging social sharing issues. The Create Post button lets you push the current page to any Channels you've created (Facebook Pages, Facebook Groups, Twitter Streams & LinkedIn Companies).

In the next release, we'll have an option to disable the toolbar completely if you don't want any of those features.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Thank you!

That explains both issues.

Just two more things.

1. I need the passwords for EasySocial to be auto generated. I've tried the setting on the JFBC config page, but it doesn't seem to affect the EasySocial password field, which are blank.

2. I would like FB (and other JFBC) users to not have to verify their accounts like normal users.

Please can you advise and thanks once again, I really appreciate the help.

When using the standard EasySocial registration flow, there's not a way to currently generate the passwords due to how things work with them saving registration fields. It's something we've looked into in the past and want to find a way around, but just don't have the ability to do that right now. If you switch to the automatic registration mode, the generation of the password does work, but I understand that doesn't help you very much.

I believe the JFBConnect setting for 'skip activation' should work here. If not, or you have issues using that setting, let me know. I'm pretty sure we've tested this before and know there is a way to skip activation.. hopefully this suggestion works for you, but if not, let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you Alex, this is incredibly helpful.

I've actually had a rethink and I'm going to make social registration as streamlined as possible and skip the registration form so people can log right in.

Your extension is looking very good at the moment!

Glad I could help explain things. In general, we try to offer a lot of flexibility on how the registration process can be implemented. The automatic flow though is by far the easiest and what we'd recommend if you don't truly require any additional fields during registration. It's usually better, if possible, to just get a user into your site.

Either way, should you have any other questions, just let me know!

Thanks,
Alex
