I am trying to set up JFBConnect on this site, which uses Joomla 3.x and JFBConnect v 6.0.3:
sedinaz.org

We do not use/allow users to login into this site from the front end and so I have not implemented the Joomla Login. Reading from this documentation page:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/posting/

Is the ONLY way to post from our site TO Facebook and Twitter from the FRONT END after logging in?

Which relates to the fact that when I set up a channel and tried to choose a user for it, I get the message:
The selected user has not authenticated with Facebook. Please have them do so on the front-end of the site.

Again, is the ONLY way to do this to open front-end logins to our overall web site?

Yes, and no. JFBConnect does only support posting content from the front-end right now. It's the easiest way as the user is 'seeing' the actual page that will be posted, the URL is 'known' (it's not always easy to determine the final URL of a page when in the admin area) and it works with all pages.. not just Joomla content or some other specific content.

With that said, you should still be able to disable new registrations, which is a Joomla setting. You can also configure 'admin activation' of accounts, so that if anyone tries to register through a social network, they simply won't be able to login.

With that, the registration page of Joomla will be disabled. You can create a special page somewhere with a hidden menu item, like "/login-to-frontend-for-admins" that is meant to only be navigated directly to and then login there. It would only you and other super admins that'd have permission to actually authenticate though.

It's definitely more complex than a site that normally allows logins, but the Create Post and Meta Tag debug tool (to show you the Open Graph tags set on the page) can be very helpful.

I hope that helps explain, but if you need any more details or have any suggestions on improvements, we're definitely listening.

Thanks,
Alex

No problem. Glad we could help explain and that it sounds like something you'd be comfortable with configuring on your site.

Should you have any questions, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex
