Thanks again for opening this back up.

I'm not sure whether this is related to the addition of the SSL certificate or the recent update to JFB Connect but the Open graph image and information doesn't seem to be displaying correctly.

Here's what it used to look like

Here's what it's looking like now

I checked the Facebook opengraph debug tool for http and https and there seems to be an error and a picture missing from https

It's likely unrelated to JFBConnect. Please go to the Joomla -> Global Configuration area and set "Gzip Compression" to "No". There seems to be a bug with that setting on some servers that is causing issues with Facebook's ability to scrape the tags on the page.

After you disable that, re-run the page through the Debug Tool and my guess is that you'll get better results.

Keep me posted. We're planning to investigate this issue soon.

Thanks,
Alex

Yep you were correct, I turned Gzip compression off and everything is back to normal.

Thanks

Hiho,
if someone share a video to facebook, there is no preview-thumb. Is that compress-error too? Deactivate jfbc all is fine.

Regards
Michael

No, that would be something different. Can you tell me how the video is inserted in your page? My guess is that you're using another extension to add the video and it's adding an og:type of 'video'. JFBConnect will, by default, set most content to 'article' type.

In that case, you may need to add a special tag to the page to have JFBConnect reset the type to 'video':
{SCOpenGraph type=video}
There are other ways to accomplish the same thing if you have many pages that need to be set.

A good way to test is by using our Social Debug tool. That will scan your page and let you know exactly what Open Graph tags are set. Try running your URL through that tool when things are working and when they aren't and compare the Open Graph tags for differences.

Another benefit of the Social Debug tool is that it will refresh Facebook's cached data of your tags so that the changes will take effect immediately.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Hi,
thx for reply. Mean if users want sharing videos out of jomsocial. Is there a manual for doing settings right without deactivate jfbc for jomsocial?

Kind regards
Michael

Glad it sounds like you got things going. If there's anything you'd like to share with us on what you did, or recommendations on how we can improve JFBConnect in the future, just let me know.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:

Thanks,
Alex
