Hi. I'm using JFBConnect for a few years so far and it was working fine on y Joomla sites, but after latest Joomla upgrade and latest JFBConnect installation users lost option to like with small pic and short intro text (as it was before), now it just shows link to article on facebook which is not fancy at all. Please, if you can check out and help somehow. I didn't play with Opengraph, I mean, plugin is on but that's all I did. This worked before so I don't know what messed up. There are two sites to check: www.djdacha.net and www.deeplinkmusic.com. I hope I made it clear, try to like any article on those sites and you can see that it'll show only link on facebook even when article have image and text in it.

The tags on your page are correct. If you open the HTML and search for og: , you'll see the proper tags being set for title, description, image, etc. The problem seems to be that Facebook isn't able to actually grab your page contents:
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/o...e-has-no-colour-dl84

On that page, you'll see:

Errors That Must Be Fixed
Can't Download Could not retrieve data from URL.

We've heard of that on 2 other sites lately, which means its still very uncommon. The fix on the other sites has been to disable the GZip Compression setting in the Global Configuration area of Joomla. We're not sure what changed in Joomla 3.2, but this doesn't seem to be a problem with JFBConnect but with the compression of your site being a way that Facebook is unable to read it.

Please try disabling that and then running your page through the Open Graph Debug Tool, linked above, to see if the details show up properly there. If so, you can scan other pages with the tool or wait a few days for Facebook to re-scan them automatically.

I hope that helps,
Alex

Hi. I can live without gzip right now, after two days and gzip turned off, everything is back to normal. So it is gzip in this case, thank you for your help. Consider it solved.

Glad to hear that got it going for you. We're still unsure what exactly is causing the GZip compression to cause problems with Facebook. Again, it's not a JFBConnect issue as Facebook isn't able to see anything about your page.. we of course are looking for a solution though as it's both strange and affects our users.

We'll let you know what we found, and glad you got things going for now. Of course if you need anything else or have any questions or feedback, just let us know.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:

Thanks,
Alex
