It could be, but I'm not sure why it would be doing so. The best way to test is to disable the "Import Social Network Status" setting in the Profiles -> JomSocial area of JFBConnect. Then, test to see if the same status is being repeated.
JFBConnect does a simple test to check that the status being set isn't the same as the current status for the user. It's possible with JomSocial 3.0, we've missed an update somewhere and aren't properly checking though.
