Hi Alex,

i am back again. Can you tell me, where you put the categories/item options like "including/excluding" in the new version? Hopefully you didn't delete that great and easy possibility to include or exclude cats or items...

maybe i am too blind to find it...

Cheers,
Rafael

EDIT: ok, i found the options for the categories... :-) but i am still searching for the option to exclude/include articles...

We didn't remove that feature, but I can see where it can be confusing now that you point it out. Both the category and article ID filters are shown at the bottom of the "Blog View Setting" area as long as either "Show in Frontpage" or "Show in Category" is set to something other than 'none'.

We'll have to break out the filters to always show, so that way it's more obvious that they work for the Item view settings as well.

Beyond that, if you still can't find what you're looking for, let me know!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

thanks for your reply. Well, i think there is a logical Problem...

I had found it, when i set either "Show in Frontpage" or "Show in Category" to something else like "none". But that means, the Buttons will show up on the Frontpage or in the Category-List/-Blog. But what i need is a possibility to turn off the buttons of a single article or of all category-items - but on the article view!

If i activate "Show in Category" and exclude a single category, the buttons don't show up either in the blog-view nor in the article-view.

What i need is the function to show the buttons everywhere only in the article-view - not in the blog-view from a category, but with the possibility to enable the buttons from a single article inside this category.

hope, it's understandable, what i write...

Cheers,
Rafael

EDIT: i found a quick-and-dirty-solution for the moment!

This works only, if you don't have items on the frontage, or if you'd like to have the social-buttons on the frontage.
Activate: "Show in Frontpage"
Activate: "Include" at "Category Options" and mark all categories which you have to have the buttons in the article-view, but not on the category-/blog-view.
Activate: "Exclude" at "Article Options" and type in the IDs of the single articles you don't want to have the buttons in the article-view

A better solution would be, if there is the possibility to exclude articles without needed to activate "Show in Frontpage" or "Show in Category".

Rafael,
The Include/Exclude settings should work always. There is a bug where the include/exclude options are only shown if you have the Show in Front-page or Show in Category settings enabled. However, once you configure the include/exclude options however you want, simply set the Front Page or Category settings back to 'none'.

At that point, the Include/Exclude settings will still be used, you just won't be able to see the values in the Social Configuration area.

The v5.1.2 release (due out next week) will properly show the Include/Exclude settings always as it should be.

I hope that helps explain, but if not, let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Rafael,
Glad to hear that works. Silly graphical bug on our part where we're hiding too much. We really tried to clean up the settings in the admin area to make things not-so-overwhelming, and screwed that up in the process. Hopefully everything else in v5.1 is working great for you, but if you have any feedback or suggestions, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Awesome! Glad to hear that fixed it and I hope everything else is going well with the update. If you need anything else or have any other feedback, just let us know.

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory. It certainly isn't required, but is very appreciated:

Thanks,
