Topic-icon 406 Not Acceptable Error when saving Object/Action Open Graph

Hello,

When attempting to save/publish a object or action in the Open Graph section of JFBconnect, after filling out all of the details within the Object/action it provides the following error.
"406 Not Acceptable.
Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource / could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

And will not let me access my site without restarting my browser or a certain period of time.

Any help on this?
Regards.

We've only heard of this a few times. It has something to do with mod_security restrictions within Apache, but we haven't been able to determine what the actual cause is. If you can contact your hosting provider and obtain a log as to why Apache's mod_security module has restricted you after saving, we'll gladly look into the cause further and try to help diagnose the problem.

The other option is to disable mod_security, though that shouldn't be necessary.

I hope that helps get you started, but let us know what you find.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Sorry for slow reply - our host just got back to us. I have attached the error log now. I can't see anything stand out too much. Maybe you could shed some light on this for me??

Thanks for the log. Unfortunately, that's the PHP error log. That's not what we're looking for :(

The problem is not actually a PHP or coding error. Whatever is preventing the submission on that page is a firewall or security extension. It's likely the mod_security module for Apache webservers. The log we'd need is for mod_security which should show what page was prevented from being executed and why it though there was a security issue with the submission.

If you can't get that, I'd recommend waiting until the v5.1 release (due out next week) which alters the Open Graph creation pages quite a bit. It's possible that will magically fix the problem (though we didn't do anything specifically to fix it). If that release doesn't get it, we'll gladly be willing to access the admin area of your site at that point and see if we can determine what may be preventing the saving of those actions.

I hope that helps explain a little, but if you have any questions, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
