Sourcecoast extensions are way better if building a community, due OATH actions, wall posting, etc... but this login module, IS SUPERB...

I just hope SCLogin can be as good as it in the future :) It's just that, an ajax login module that besides the good it is already for j! includes basic social login/registration (way better than joomlworks solutin as you can configure auto/manual registration allowing for username selection, etc...)

Johnny,
It's already in the process. Check out JFBConnect v5.0 announcement blog post, if you haven't already. In the "Future" section is the bullet point "an overhauled Login module, with new designs, AJAX functionality, and much better looks".

That updated module is coming in April and already well under way. I'm sure there will be some feature or option it's lacking right away, but it will be a gazillion times improvement over what's available now. We're hoping to have a blog post with some screenshots up over the next week or so to get some feedback on the development so far, and of course, we'll be looking for lots of feedback once it's fully available too.

Definitely appreciate the feedback, interest, and compliments in general on our extensions. The SCLogin module is definitely something that's fallen behind, but that will be rectified soon.

Thanks,
Alex

Awesome ^^

Your extensions problem is most of it's magic goes in the backend unnoticed by most users, SCLogin HAS to be your presentation card ;)

This login/registry module is really awesome looking, I just hope to be albe to create similar stunning templates with SCLogin :)

BTW, any news on future twitter/google+ extensions?

Google is about to present hubble (or whatever it's called) and I expect a great resurrection on mobile terminals (although they arlready use it in all android ones ;))

Our plan with the SCLogin module is to actually make it free to everyone. If you have JFBConnect/JLinked, you'll have the extra social login buttons. If you don't, it will just be a great, flexible, and pretty login module. Hoping that will draw users more into our social networking extensions. Just telling you that because it means that we'll have to add some cool features to make it a powerful, free, and highly praised login module.. and then obviously shoot for users to want some of the other great features that JFBConnect and JLinked will provide.

No new news on Twitter/G+ extensions... they're coming. See the blog post above for the information we've shared publicly. Sorry I can't be more specific. Just have a very busy few months planned ahead of us. If we hit every milestone and target, it will be an amazing Q2 :)

I'll have to read more into Hubble(?). Honestly not sure what that is from your reference.. but I'm tired, so my brain isn't fully working.

Thanks again for the feedback, and hope all is well,
Alex

Sorry, my mistake, I meant google babble ;)

Basically, unifing gtalk, g+messenger, hangouts, etc... becoming then the most powerful IM out there, in all devices, not just phones (whatsapp), and crowded on features (the problem gtalk had on phones...)

I foresee it as an inflection point if they manage to create hype on non geeky whatsapp users... (they failed to do so with G+...)

What I read about SCLogin sounds great :) I've always though with current login modules, why couldn't they make it have basic fb/tw/g+/lin login feature, but open to integration with sourcecoast and outher more powerful solutions if available... can I expect then the new login to be able to do this "basic" login in the other social services? :)

Thanks for clarifying the Google stuff. We're definitely keeping an eye on them and excited about some of their changes. We continue to the G+ will be a huge player in the social networking scene, but aren't there yet. (Obviously they are there, but we try to look through the eyes of users that would want that option on their site, and right now, they haven't fully hit that threshold).

As for the SCLogin module, for now at least, there will not be a 'basic' authentication for social networks. If you don't have our social networking extensions installed, the SCLogin module would just get you a fancier Joomla login module with easy flexibility to upgrade to social networking integration through JFBConnect/JLinked. That's definitely open to change as things evolve. For now though, our authentication is so baked into JFBConnect, it'd be difficult to break out just a portion for 'basic' integration. Additionally, modules don't have database tables to store the data we'd need.. so to do even basic authentication, you really should have a component just for that. Ironically, in the Joomla world, sometimes it gets complex to make things simple. :)

Obviously, we're evaluating things on the fly and have plenty of changes in store for the future.. but for the immediate release, that's the plan.

Hope that helps,
Alex
