Just wanted to let you know that v8.4.6 of JFBConnect was released. The long-lived token is properly fetched in this release in a better location of code for just Instagram. Additionally, we found a few bugs during registration that could crop up. We'd recommend upgrading to 8.4.6 to make sure you're using the latest and don't run into any problems.

Hello Alex,
I updated to today to 8.4.6 and checked the authenticate.php file to see if the above code we built was included. I can see that it is not and if I add it, I get an error.

I see that your the change logs for 8.4.6 state instagram long-lived token, so my question is, did you find a better place for the long-lived access token snippet to live?

It is now in the /components/com_jfbconnect/libraries/provider/instagram.php file.
