Hi there,
On another site where I used JFBconnect and the SCLogin button the "Signup/Login" button changed after successfully logging in with Facebook to the profile pic from facebook and a coloured area just below that expanded when clicked upon to show a members log in menu with my profile and logout buttons.

The "Login with Facebook" was working nicely before but when making changes to try to get the social pic to show and also find out why the login/signup button did not change after logging in, I went back to see if my changes had the desired effect and discovered that the entire "Login with Facebook" button is gone. I had also changed the look of the "Forgot your password" and "Forgot your username" links (changed to black buttons) but those changes weren't reflected.

Here's pic of when the button was showing:

Would greatly appreciate any help with this.

Can you tell us where we can see the missing buttons? The only suggestion I can give immediately from what you describe is to ensure that the "Integrate with Joomla Login" setting option in JFBConnect is set to something other than "None". That setting is what JFBConnect uses to determine how to automatically add the social login buttons to the login and registration pages.

I hope that helps, but if not, let us know any other details on what you've changed, where we can see the site or any other info that will help us narrow things down.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
That setting was set to none, but I don't recall changing it to none and the button was correctly showing up. Also doesn't explain why the "Forgot password/username" links aren't showing as buttons.

But I have another problem that prevents investigating this for the moment. Most of the menu items aren't clickable, so I have to wait until that is sorted and then I'll resist this.

Will let you know. Thanks for responding.

Peter

Hi Alex,
The problem that was making the menu unusable has been solved and the Facebook button has returned thanks to your tip " "Integrate with Joomla Login" setting option in JFBConnect is set to something other than "None". Seems the setting was changed to "none" inadvertently.

Anyway, my issue is how to get the my profile/logout experience after a user logs in or signs up. In my old site we got it to show the Facebook profile pic over a button that when clicked on showed a dropdown menu showing "my profile" (something else) and "log out." Was a nice use of space i thought but despite copying all of the setting from the old SC login module to the new one, I can't get this to show up.

I'm only getting a "my profile" button to replace the sign up/login button. I know I can just create a sub-menu item called "logout" under the my profile menu, but I'd like to get back to showing the user's profile pic from their social network, next to (on top of) the box that reveals a drop down menu as described above. Can you help?

Can you also explain why after logging in, a registered user gets an error message at the top of the page saying "Error. You are not authorised to view this resource."

Thanks for your attention.

Glad to hear you got the login buttons to show.

As for the profile pic as a drop-down menu selector, I'm not sure of the best way or how to do this. If you've copied the styles and HTML, what is different? I'd open the 'old' site and use the Developer Tools in your favorite browser to see where the HTML differs.. and narrow it down from there. I don't have any specific suggestions though as it's not something we've done before.

Can you also explain why after logging in, a registered user gets an error message at the top of the page saying "Error. You are not authorised to view this resource."

Whatever URL the user is on has permissions that are higher than their pay grade :) I'd look at the Joomla menu manager or in the extension of the current page to determine what resource is being loaded. Also, look at the Login Redirection setting in JFBConnect to make sure they're going to the right page.

Thanks,
Alex

I actually didn't do copy styles and html. I don't know how to do that. I merely configured the module with the same settings. Is that something I can easily do, or better to pass on to a developer?

Hi Alex,
Despite not copying HTML and styles, it seems there are built in setting to the SCLogin button that I've set to display a member menu and social network pic after logging in. But they don't work. The social network profile pic is not displayed and the member links menu is also not shown. I've configured a drop down menu for my profile to be displayed in the meantime but this is not what I want.

Can you check this for me?

I'll send you my access info in a message.

The profile pic can only be displayed from some social networks. It's recommended, however, if you're using JomSocial, EasySocial or one of other profile extensions that we support that you show that profile picture instead. The local profile extension you use should have a profile picture for both social network users and users who didn't connect using a social network. That reduces some problems you may be running into.

As for the copying of the HTML and CSS, I only said that assuming you customized the previous site. If you hadn't done any customizations, then you shouldn't need to copy anything.

I'm honestly still a bit confused as to what you're trying to go for and what you have vs what you want. You mentioned, " and the member links menu is also not shown. I've configured a drop down menu for my profile to be displayed in the meantime but this is not what I want. "
What is the difference between member links menu and the drop down menu you have?

We've never had a method where the profile picture can be clicked to show a drop-down (or other type of) menu. If that's how you want things configured or had it before, then there must have been some customization done. That's fine, but it's not something we could help you re-implement.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
I'm not using any community plugin like jom or easysocial. Basically the SCLogin module is configured to show a user menu when a user signs in and it's not. When a user logs in with Facebook I expect to have his profile pic appear and a button with a drop down menu (member links) drop down. That's not happening.

In the meantime I've created a My Profile button with a drop down logout but that's only because the SCLogin module doesn't work as expected. It's not that the drop down came from the profile pic but from a button that was displayed below the profile pic.

Found an old screencast of how the SCLogin button worked:
www.screencast.com/t/v7j9XAbwUDg
Only difference was that the button did not say "logout" but instead had a dropdown menu (including logout and my profile) when you hovered over it.

I'm trying to recreate this functionality. Have I missed assigning the SCLogin module to the login menu item?
