I have updated JFBConnect 8.0 today, but still have no idea about this.
Facebook informs me that my app need to be reviewed before 8/2.
I checked my app and it asks "friends" data from Facebook user, so what should I do?
I think the JFBConnect 8.0 doesn't requires "friends" data, what would happen if I don't submit the app review?
Thanks

I have the same issue. Facebook wants to do a FB App review. and have it submitted by August. This is the email they send

App Review submission required by August 1, 2018 to retain access to Facebook Platform APIs
The Facebook App Review process and API permissions model have been updated. Learn more.
In order to maintain your current API access, your app will need to be submitted for review by August 1, 2018. If your app is not submitted for review by this date, you will lose access to the following permissions and features:
user_friends
user_link
user_gender
user_age_range
Please review the FAQ to ensure you request the correct permissions and features with your app review submission, and click on the relevant items in the list above to start the process.
If your app does not require the use of these permissions and features, no review is required, and no further action needs to be taken on your part.
For selected permissions and features, the app may also be required to be associated with a verified business, to complete App Review.

Once you visit your apps Facebook for Developers page you are told:

The initial Approved Items are

email
public_profile
user_friends

Once you click the submission button they ask you if you want additional login permissions and other Features: These include:

LOGIN PERMISSIONS

business_management
groups_access_member_info
manage_pages
pages_manage_instant_articles
publish_pages
publish_to_groups
read_insights
read_page_mailboxes
user_age_range
user_birthday
user_events
user_friends
user_gender
user_hometown
user_likes
user_link
user_location
user_managed_groups
user_photos
user_posts
user_tagged_places
user_videos

FEATURES

Ads Management Basic Access
Page Mentions
Live Video API
Page Public Content Access
Groups API

I assume some like user_link and user_location we need and others like mangage_pages we do not. What exactly should I check we need?

Thanks

Is anyone looking into this? I don't want to start the review process unless I know what permissions are required by JFBConnect.

I'm sorry for the delayed response. We're actually working on multiple tools and documentation to help with the App Review process:
* The next release of JFBConnect (v8.0.1) will have a new App Review section in the administrator area. This will show all of the scope that your app is currently requesting from each network and where that scope is being required from (profile import, channel, posting permission, etc).
* Details on what permissions need to be submitted to Facebook
* Documentation on how to go through the App Review process

If you need to go through the app review process immediately, then you'll need to follow the directions in the Facebook Developer area. It's actually pretty straightforward, though I understand it looks tedious. Here's the general flow though:
* Go to the Facebook Developer area
* Click into your app
* Go to the App Review section
* In the "Current Submission" section, add the permissions you need approval for. We recommend doing a group at a time, like just the permissions you require for fields you are importing from a user's profile or just permissions for allowing JFBConnect to read and post to a Facebook Page on your behalf
* Attach screenshots or a video (can be taken with a cell phone aimed at your monitor, nothing professional required) of the authentication process and how the permissions are used (to populate the Joomla user profile, for example)
* Submit

To currently get a list of the permissions you're currently requesting, you can open the HTML of your home page. Then, search for "jfbc.login.scope". You should see a string like:
jfbc.login.scope = 'email,user_birthday';
Those fields in the list are the permissions you should submit for review. Again, the next release of JFBConnect will make this more clear in the administrator area.

I hope that helps you get started, but if you need anything else, just let us know. We're shooting to have the updated release out by the end of the month.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the reply.

I didn't know we needed photo's or video (what is preferred?). So we just have to show the login process for Facebook of our site followed by showing the user profile so Facebook can see the fields we are using?

Also it sounds like you are saying you can do multiple review submissions for different groups of permissions? With my site I use Facebook Authentication and Posting to a Facebook page. Do you have to include a video showing creating an article and then the Facebook page where the article is posted along with one for the authentication process?

I have to August so I think I will wait for v8.0.1 to make things a bit easier.

It depends on the permission. Photos and video aren't required for all, but the more details you can provide and the easier it is for the reviewer to understand, the better your chance of getting approved the first time.

When you "Add items" (the permission you want to have reviewed) to the App Review request, it will give you a set of instructions on what to do. I'd recommend looking into starting an App Review process. There are a lot of details, but Facebook has a bunch of instructions on how to do it, which is the best place to start. They also (like everything else) change their instructions and requirements as time goes on to make sure that the submissions have all the required details to make it smoother... so look there first even without any documentation on our end.

As for batching of app reviews, you can do them all at once.. each permission requires a description and/or video/screenshots or whatever. You can do it all at once, but my feeling is to do it in groups of related items.

Thanks,
Alex
